Buckingham Palace is the London residence of the British sovereign. It was originally built in the early 18th century for the Dukes of Buckingham and later purchased by King George III. It has since been rebuilt and expanded, and today its principal rooms are contained on the piano nobile level. Visitors can view the Throne Room and watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony when the sovereign is in residence.
