1. Milton Glaser – Designer Extraordinaire

Education
He was born on June 26, 1929 in New York City, which basically gave him that strong grass
roots outlook in life. Before he became a well decorated graphic designer, Glaser attended the
High School of Music and Art in Manhattan. His artistic ability was no less than apparent and
in time he became a scholar at the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts with a Fulbright
Scholarship.
Career Highlights
Given his lifetime passion for the arts specifically in graphic design, it shouldn't come as a
surprise to learn that he was one of the founders of Push Pin Studios, which started making
headway in 1954. He is known to use any type of medium with originality and simplicity in
style. His work is also characterized as having directness with designs ranging from
something quite primitive and basic to something that is totally ahead of its time.
Later on in 1974, Glaser started his own studio, which eventually expanded his horizons and
brought a lot more opportunities for the growth of his career. He also became co founder of
New York Magazine and even created the designs for the said magazine outfit. His line of art
is pretty endemic to contemporary design. One of his lasting and most memorable works is
the Federal Office Building mural that stands up to a towering 600 feet.
Awards and Recognition
Milton Glaser is a highly decorated artist to say the least. He has tucked a good number of
awards under his belt to prove that he can truly pack a punch in the world of illustration and
graphic arts. The Royal Society of Arts awarded him an Honorary Fellow. Other prestigious
award giving bodies that have taken furnished him with praise and distinction include the
Type Directors Club and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. He also received an award
from the Society of Illustrators and his works were duly recognized.
His company, Milton Glaser, Inc. is still a name to reckon in today's graphic arts business.
The company now incorporates a wide variety of disciplines including website design,
brochures, interior design, annual reports, and packaging design. Going over the highlights of
