Lastly, it is likely that a child diagnosed with 22q11.2 DS will experience health issues. This may
effect their alertness and participation in the classroom due to their fragile health (McDonald et al.,
2013). Overall, there is a wide range of academic challenges a child with this syndrome may
experience that will require support in the classroom to promote effective learning.
A speech–language pathologist (SLP) may face many challenges while working with a student with
22q11.2 DS. These include: variety of deficits presented in this syndrome, social–cognitive deficits,
verbal instruction, and prevalence of hearing loss.
It is important for the SLP to understand the wide variety of disorders a student with 22q11.2 DS
may be experiencing. This syndrome has the ability to impact every system in the body, and many
learning disorders are associated with 22q11.2 DS. While there is a significant amount of articles
and information about this syndrome, it is not specific to the individual you may be working with.
There are significant lists and research determining other diagnosis a student with 22q11.2 DS may
have, yet it can vary so greatly between individuals. A child may have a profound learning
disability, or considered "average" (McDonald et al., 2013). Therefore, the SLP must develop a good
understanding of what their student is experiencing and what their specific wants and needs are for
speech therapy.
A study performed by L.E Campbell et al., determined that students

Speech Reflection Essay
During speech class this semester, I gave several different types of speeches on several different
topics. During this semester, my ability to give speeches in front of an audience has improved quite
a bit, I hope. Going into the semester, I had a really hard time giving speeches to people, but now that
speech is almost over I feel like I am more capable of doing so. I think the thing I did best during
the semester was getting good information for each of my speeches. My favorite assignment was
most likely the impromptu speech. I really liked that one because we did not have to prepare an
outline or anything like that, we just got to go up there and speak. During this semester, I learned
a lot about how to give speeches such as the proper way to stand so I do not rock, or how to use
my hands to emphasize my points. In the future, I think that I will be able to control my speed better
during my speeches which will help the people I am presenting to understand my message. I
think the skills I have acquired during speech will help me for the rest of my life. No matter what
career I choose, I am sure that at some point I will have to present to someone about something.
The skills I learned in speech will also help me just communicate with people in a one on one
situation easier than I do now. I can use these skills throughout the rest of high school and through
my six years of college still to come because whenever I have to present a project I will know how to
effectively communicate my message to my audience.
Based off of all of my reflection sheets, video evaluations, and peer critiques I have improved over
the course of the semester. At the beginning of the semester I had a problem with speed and using
to many "filler" words. As the year progressed, my speed became more and more controllable and
I used less and less filler words. After my most recent speech, I'm still not quite at the level I want
to be at, but I am far better than I was at the very beginning. I think just speaking in front of people
more than I am used to doing has helped me develop better speaking skills and grow in my ability to
effectively communicate with others. Throughout the semester I learned a lot about speaking,
performing, and

Persuasive Informational Speech Evaluation
One of the best speech assignments that I liked the most was the Persuasive Informational speech
presentation. I like this assignment because it was a group assignment where each individual has
to be creative. What made the best was that we work as a team. We figured out what we going to
present to the class. But I think what it made it the best was that we helped each other on what we
were going to present. For example, I did not know what to do, until my classmate Travon gave me
some ideas on what to present. Yes, we had some challenges but not major. At first, we had no idea
how to start our presentation. We overcome that little problem by using brainstorming, where we
were producing ideas and ideas until we come out with the right ideas

Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation
For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to
which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able
to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my
presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking
away from this speech.
First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any
other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my
outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to
clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I
was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme.
I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly
state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve
I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with
psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you".
I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic.
Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage

Essay on Speech Pathology
SPEECH PATHOLOGY Many people would like to make a difference, not only in their own life,
but in others' lives as well. Deepak Chopra once said, "Everyone has a purpose in life...a unique
gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others,
we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all
goals." All of us, at one point in our lives, have to make the difficult decision of the goals we want
to work towards. We all have certain goals, standards, and expectations of ourselves. Not everyone
will figure out what they want to be right away, and some will know from the very beginning. My

This job is not physically demanding, but it requires concentration and attention to details. A normal
week for an SLP is approximately forty hours, with the possibility of traveling. There are many
requirements that involve education and training, as well as personal requirements and aptitude. To
be a Speech Language Pathologist, one must have a sincere interest in helping people, sensitivity,
resourcefulness, and imagination. One must also be able to communicate orally and in writing.
Michigan Works, an agency that assists with employment, posts jobs that display education and
background requirements for obtaining a job as a Speech Language Pathologist. Some requirements
include a master's degree from a speech and hearing program certified by the ASHA, American
Speech and Hearing Association, post–certification experience in an institutional setting. Home
health experience is also desirable. One must graduate from high school and pass courses in biology,
physics, social sciences, English, mathematics, public speaking, language, and psychology.
Undergraduate courses should include a strong Arts/Science focus, linguistics, phonetics, anatomy,
psychology, human development, biology, physiology, math, physical science, semantics, and social

Informative Speech Self–Evaluation Form 1.After re–watching your speech, do you think you
clearly explained a complex idea so that a non–expert audience could understand it? Was this a topic
that will help your audience in some way? Why or why not? How could you have done this even
more effectively? I think I clearly explained a basic concept of my topic. Technology is improving
step by step. And, I think the topic I choose clearly demonstrates how our world is changing and
how some technologies have an impact in the future. I believe my topic will help the audience in
some way. Many of us use transportation on our day–to–day basis. Thus, the topic I choose makes

One of the problems I faced was after many hours of practicing, I still found my self still having a
memorization issue. Due to that reason, my speech was a little here and there. However, I
believe after my speech the audience had a fundamental knowledge of my topic. 4.What are two
things that you did well and two things that you could have done better in the delivery of this
speech? Comparing to my pervious speeches, I thought I was more confident and effective. Since
we were in the small room, I made sure that the tone and volume of my voices were balanced.
Moreover, throughout the speeches I used various hand gestures to help me get connect with the
audience. Preparation is one the most effective way to improve in any kinds of speech.
Therefore, I could have done better by practice and preparing more. 5.What have you learned
from the process of developing and giving this speech? How can you build on this experience and
improve before your next speech? I have shown huge improvements on delivering speeches. This
process helped me to understand different kinds of speech and their expectations. The only way I
can think of improving is that to get myself be confortable and to do more preparations. Therefore,
the mistakes I made in this will help me to improve on the next

Evaluating a Persuasive Speech After reviewing the sample persuasive speech titled "Putting the
Brakes on Teenage Driving." I have concluded that the speaker is attempting to persuade the
audience to agree with her in regards to the importance of increasing the minimum age for drivers to
18 or older. The speaker utilizes the Problem–Cause–Solution pattern and very closely mimicked the
Monroe Motivated Sequence. However, she did not make a call for action which is the last step in
Monroe's model, and that would have probably made a better presentation and also been more
effective if she had requested that the audience sign a petition to demand change or give them the
contact information of local legislation. Using the Problem–Cause–Solution,

Informative Speech self–evaluation I don't think that I did so well during this last presentation. I
did a lot of research about the drone I was talking about and I knew what I was going to say about
the product. When I got up there I realized I didn't know it as well as I thought I was going to. I
should have put more practice into my presentation. I felt like I practiced but it was all in my
mind. I never really put my PowerPoint up and practiced it in front of someone. When I got up
and started my presentation, I went through my attention getter and when I took my eyes off of
my cards I never really knew what I was going to say next. It was a lack of practice. To prepare for

Devotional Speech Evaluation
Devotional Speech Evaluation By far my devotional speech has been my best one yet. While
giving this speech I didn't feel the normal butterflies or sweaty palms like I usually do but I felt
confidence and ease while giving my speech. Even though this was my best speech, I still have
things I can do to even better my speech so every time that I get up in front of an audience to speak
it gets better and better. Nothing comes without practice, so the only thing I can do to get better is
practice. In short, I still have things I can do to better prepare myself for my speech and things I
can do to better my body language while giving a speech. For example, while giving my speech I
tend to fidget with my shirt or something in my hand and that

Special Occasion Speech Evaluation Sample
I thought that my special occasion speech went pretty well. In the video I could not see how the
audience reacted to my speech so I will have to go off of what I remember and what I got back on
my evaluation. As far as i could tell my audience was interested and listening intently. I was
getting some nods and lots of direct eye contact as well as some smiles, but that may have just
been people trying to be polite. In truth I really need to work on my organization. It's kind of a
miracle that this turned out as well as it did. I had a few speech ideas in the week leading up to the
speech, but they were very impersonal and frankly kind of boring. So the night before my
performance day I wrote the whole speech and started practicing it and...show more content...
It's something that I definitely noticed while giving the speech since I barely made the time
minimum compared to when I practiced where I was at over four minutes. My introduction
started off pretty solid but I fumbled a bit when I had to look at my notecard but i continued
undeterred. I feel like I need some more transitions. The ones that I had were good, but there
wasn't really any sort of transition from my expression of the values of the audiences to the
values of my nominee. It wasn't anything major, but I was aware of it going in and so I can't not
talk about it. My vocal fillers were almost nonexistent. Even when I had to look at my notecard to
find my place I did not try to fill the silence with an "uh" or "um". My volume was fine. The real
glaring problem to me was that I did a sort of shuffle. I am not sure if this is because that is
something that I tend to do or if it was because I was pacing while practicing my speech. I felt that
my diction was appropriate for my topic and understandable. There were a few times where I
instinctively combined two different phrases that I used on different attempts into one combined
phrase that didn't really work out very well. An example of this is when I combined the phrase "on
the earth" and "in the world" and got the phrase "on the world" and had to correct

Public Speaking Self Reflection
Public Speaking Self–Reflection

May 11, 2014
Public speaking has always been very hard for me, I've never been the type to stand in front of an
audience and speak or do a presentation. No matter how many times I've done presentations I've
always get nervous or shy and always forget what I rehearsed. In the military I was training Nco,
everytime we had a new marine check in to our unit or are shop. I would be the one to give them
and the Apresentation on what is expected of them and also give them information about the unit
and our shop. In my opinion the Marine Corp prepared me for public speaking, especially if you

What do you want to accomplish in this course?
Whether I like it or not I been given the opportunity to talk to large crowds like a squadron or just
a couple of people in the class. My problems have always been the same getting shy, anxiety, and
even sweating. Learn to analyze the size of the audience, I want to be able to captivate my audience
and overall I just need to find the confidence in myself to do it.
How would you plan to improve weak areas to accomplish your goals? Overall no matter how
many times I do a rehearsal or practice I always get stage fright. Stage fright is my weakest area I
have done rehearsals and private or with one or two people but when it comes to the bigger
picture I always freeze. I need to learn to speak with confidence and try to get the audience
involved instead of rushing the presentation or speaking very softly so no one hears me I need to be
able to let the audience know that I am confident and the information that I am sharing is worth their
time to listen and learn

My Self-Evaluation Of Speech
This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first
speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has
happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A
speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being
presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my
personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I
convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout
the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my
hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be
trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my
audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with
confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had
constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was
doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was
pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are
something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience

Evaluating An Informative Speech
In an informative speech, the quintessential aspect that can make or break your speech is the
audience. If the audience is a group of 12 year olds, then giving a speech on how to retire at 65 is
not going to draw a positive response. Knowing certain demographics about the audience, including
age, gender, race and many others should determine the topic of your speech. Accordingly, the
relevancy of my speech played a pivotal role in its effectiveness because of how relatable an issue it
was to my audience. Also, sharing the same demographic with the audience gave the speech a more
familiar tone, than the normal speech given by someone who is older. In my informative speech, I
effectively discussed the correct process of how to buy textbooks with minor errors because of an
effective introduction, clear and concise content and relevant topic. An audience can immediately
tell on how well a speech will be as soon as the introduction is completed. Evidently, my speech gave
a strong introduction in which I outlined the layout of my speech, hinting at upcoming points and
leading to a strong...show more content...
In my conclusion, the ideas were reemphasized, and highlighted the steps of how to buy textbooks
effectively through clearly restating them. This allows the audience to hear the main points three
times throughout my speech. Even though I did not incorporate a visual aid, it was made up for
adding slight humor add–libs to the speech which kept the audience's attention. Something that could
have been added to the speech, would be to add a concluding statement that wraps up the speech
before my concluding statement. The conclusion of the speech made the relevancy of providing tips
to buy college textbooks to college students enhanced. With an already relevant speech, with
additional strong introductions and clear main points created an extremely effective and useful

Speech Evaluation Speech
For my speech evaluation, I will be taking a look at a speech given by Dr. Rick Rigsby during his
master's graduation ceremony. Rigsby begins his speech by making some comical jokes in the
beginning to liven up the crowd. He relates to the audience by saying he wears cowboy boots and
refers to himself as a "black neck redneck." After Rigsby gets the attention of his crowd, he begins
to go into to the message he wants to deliver to his audience. He begins by telling the audience of his
father who was a third grade dropout. Rigsby mentions that even though his father was a drop out
he had some of the wisest life lessons to teach. Dr. Rigsby then quotes Mark Twain stating "I never
let my schooling get in the way of my education." From their he explains that his father taught
himself how to right and read during the Jim Crow era of our country. Dr. Rigsby begins totell the
audience that he has three degrees and his brother is a judge, which he then says they are not the
smartest in the family. He explains that his father was the most educated. He then begins to quote
the sayings his father would always tell him from famous figures such as Michael Angelo, Henry
Ford, and his fathers own personal quotes. From their he quotes Aristotle saying "You are what
you repeatedly do." He then affirms that excellence should be a habit and not an act. He now
begins to talk about a former UCLA coach by the name of widen. He informs that this coach would

Informative Speech
My first informative speech was successful I would say. The topic I chose was Sephora and it was
easy to do because I am interested in it. I did not have many problems looking up information or
struggle to stay interested because Sephora is a very unique store/brand. It always makes doing
research easier when you get to choose and are interested in your topic! One thing that I think i did
very well was that I put a lot of time into my speech I spent hours looking up information that I
wanted to talk about. I even wrote down things and decided not to talk about them because that
information was not as relevant as some of the other things I wanted to talk about. I put a lot of
time and effort into the preparation of my speech that I feel like it better prepared me for what I
was going to talk about. By looking up all the information I was better educated on my topic. Being
better educated I your topic can intrigue the audience because they trust you and know what you
are saying so they will listen. The goal of the speech was to inform the audience on something new
or to update them on things they may already know so you want to find information about the topic
that maybe everybody does not already know. Finding a good opening sentence to get the audience
involved or immediately interested in your topic can be hard, but by researching and knowing your
audience it will help you in the start of your speech. Another thing that I think I executed well was
that I did find information and by credible sources. I felt as if I sounded credible by finding
reliable sources. I was able to find information that was new and credible by just searching for the
right sources. I tried my best to avoid google and I tried to find information from a newspaper
article or something that could be trusted. By having credible sources your speech is more likely
to intrigues the audience and cause them to possibly go home and look up more information
from those sources. Using sources helps your audience become better educated in the subject by
what you say and even on their own. I also believe that I was well prepared with my speech. I would
go over my speech numerous times a day so that I knew what I was going to say. I practiced

I Have A Dream Evaluation Essay
This critical evaluation essay will be on Martin Luther King's speech "I Have a Dream". This
speech was delivered during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on 28 August 1963.
This march was initially organized to focus on the economy, but as the date grew near, the focus
shifted to social issues in the country. This march was attended by more than two hundred thousand
people, to include the many actors, musicians, and the civil rights leaders. Martin Luther King said
"I am happy to join you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for
freedom in the history of our nation". (King). Martin Luther King not only touch the hearts of so
many that day, and on that he made people aware that there was work...show more content...
Martin Luther King said, "I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials
and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come
from areas where your quest–quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and
staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering." (King).
Those words spoken by the author reflected his own suffering and experiences, which supported the
credibility of the author. The use of the Ethos method was successful. Accordingly, Martin Luther
King, in this speech spoke of injustice, preached with passion, and stressed the importance of
non–violent protest so the voices could be heard. The author often spoke of how police brutality
was the norm and that someday this would change. People believed in his every word and his
every action. Martin Luther King, in his speech said, "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of
the mountains of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling
discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to
work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom
together, knowing that will be free one day" (King). The structured remarks demonstrated

For my assignment, I have been asked to do a self–evaluation on my introductory speech. The
introduction of my speech was excellent. I effectively communicated my quote, I stated the author,
and I told the audience what I have learned because of the quote. My first transition at 0:37 was
good, but it could have been a bit more fluid. I wish I would have found a better way to transition
from my introduction to my first point, but I couldn't think of a different way. My other transitions
were excellent. I used a timeline to effectively transition to my next story and I think it was very
clear and fluid. My conclusion was explicit in telling my audience that my speech was coming to an
end. My conclusion was effective in that I reiterated the main takeaways and I repeated the quote.
According to my taped speech on my phone, the time was 4:27, which means I met the minimum
time. For the organization of my speech, I would rate myself as "excellent." I would give myself
this rating because I believe I really couldn't have done a more effective job. The narrative
development and structure of my speech was excellent. Each of my stories was developed equally
and they were all very comparable in length. Each of my stories contained context, trouble ahead,
trouble, and the lesson learned. All three of my points contained the necessary details and
characteristics of the people involved in my story. It was enough that it gave my stories some
context, but not so much that it took away

Scrivo, Karen Lee. "Child–Care Options." CQ Researcher 8 May 1998: 409–32. Web. 24 June 2012.
Let's break this down so we can better understand. I know first handed that a franchised owned and
operated, Primrose School, charges $205 a week for a full time spot in their infant classroom, which
equals to be $41 a day and charges $120 a week for a part time spot, which equals to be $60 for two
days. I also know of a corporate operated facility, La Petite Academy, which charges a slightly
smaller rate, where it is $185 a week for full time, which equals $37 a day and $120 for part time,
which equals to be $60 for two days. For the sake of this topic discussion, let's go with choosing
Primrose School as your child's full time facility. Large franchises like this make you pay for
when your child is ill and unable to attend, major holidays, school cancelations and bad weather
days when the school is shut down. If you're paying $205 a week, that averages out to be $820 a
month and if you're paying $820 a month then that averages out to be $9,840 a year for one child.
Karen Scrivo was very accurate when she said $10,000 a year. Now, if that's going to break your
bank like it did mine, there is another option, in–home day cares. In–home daycares are a lot more
flexible when it comes to tuition and willing to work with parents on what they can and cannot

where is this planet, why would someone be so excited to take a trip to planet that a human being

I can understand where those questions may be coming from but this mission is very important to
my life, work, and destiny. With such bold words you almost have to be curious of what this
mission is, right? Well I am honored to explain. I was awakened from my slumber approximately
15:00 hours ago with a continuous sound at my door and my phone flashing nonstop. It was NASA

will establish my society, the main values of this society, the rewards for the citizens, and how to
keep a non–violent society and how I will establish order in this society. We are about 10 years

myself 75,000 miles away on the planet on which I will build this great civilization on. Immediately

Speech Evaluation Essay

  • 1. Lastly, it is likely that a child diagnosed with 22q11.2 DS will experience health issues. This may effect their alertness and participation in the classroom due to their fragile health (McDonald et al., 2013). Overall, there is a wide range of academic challenges a child with this syndrome may experience that will require support in the classroom to promote effective learning. A speech–language pathologist (SLP) may face many challenges while working with a student with 22q11.2 DS. These include: variety of deficits presented in this syndrome, social–cognitive deficits, verbal instruction, and prevalence of hearing loss. It is important for the SLP to understand the wide variety of disorders a student with 22q11.2 DS may be experiencing. This syndrome has the ability to impact every system in the body, and many learning disorders are associated with 22q11.2 DS. While there is a significant amount of articles and information about this syndrome, it is not specific to the individual you may be working with. There are significant lists and research determining other diagnosis a student with 22q11.2 DS may have, yet it can vary so greatly between individuals. A child may have a profound learning disability, or considered "average" (McDonald et al., 2013). Therefore, the SLP must develop a good understanding of what their student is experiencing and what their specific wants and needs are for speech therapy. A study performed by L.E Campbell et al., determined that students Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Speech Reflection Essay During speech class this semester, I gave several different types of speeches on several different topics. During this semester, my ability to give speeches in front of an audience has improved quite a bit, I hope. Going into the semester, I had a really hard time giving speeches to people, but now that speech is almost over I feel like I am more capable of doing so. I think the thing I did best during the semester was getting good information for each of my speeches. My favorite assignment was most likely the impromptu speech. I really liked that one because we did not have to prepare an outline or anything like that, we just got to go up there and speak. During this semester, I learned a lot about how to give speeches such as the proper way to stand so I do not rock, or how to use my hands to emphasize my points. In the future, I think that I will be able to control my speed better during my speeches which will help the people I am presenting to understand my message. I think the skills I have acquired during speech will help me for the rest of my life. No matter what career I choose, I am sure that at some point I will have to present to someone about something. The skills I learned in speech will also help me just communicate with people in a one on one situation easier than I do now. I can use these skills throughout the rest of high school and through my six years of college still to come because whenever I have to present a project I will know how to effectively communicate my message to my audience. Based off of all of my reflection sheets, video evaluations, and peer critiques I have improved over the course of the semester. At the beginning of the semester I had a problem with speed and using to many "filler" words. As the year progressed, my speed became more and more controllable and I used less and less filler words. After my most recent speech, I'm still not quite at the level I want to be at, but I am far better than I was at the very beginning. I think just speaking in front of people more than I am used to doing has helped me develop better speaking skills and grow in my ability to effectively communicate with others. Throughout the semester I learned a lot about speaking, performing, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Informational Speech Evaluation One of the best speech assignments that I liked the most was the Persuasive Informational speech presentation. I like this assignment because it was a group assignment where each individual has to be creative. What made the best was that we work as a team. We figured out what we going to present to the class. But I think what it made it the best was that we helped each other on what we were going to present. For example, I did not know what to do, until my classmate Travon gave me some ideas on what to present. Yes, we had some challenges but not major. At first, we had no idea how to start our presentation. We overcome that little problem by using brainstorming, where we were producing ideas and ideas until we come out with the right ideas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Speech On Self Evaluation Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking away from this speech. First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme. I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you". I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic. Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on Speech Pathology SPEECH PATHOLOGY Many people would like to make a difference, not only in their own life, but in others' lives as well. Deepak Chopra once said, "Everyone has a purpose in life...a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals." All of us, at one point in our lives, have to make the difficult decision of the goals we want to work towards. We all have certain goals, standards, and expectations of ourselves. Not everyone will figure out what they want to be right away, and some will know from the very beginning. My plan for my life is helping others through Speech Language...show more content... Informative Speech Self-Evaluation Form Informative Speech Self–Evaluation Form 1.After re–watching your speech, do you think you clearly explained a complex idea so that a non–expert audience could understand it? Was this a topic that will help your audience in some way? Why or why not? How could you have done this even more effectively? I think I clearly explained a basic concept of my topic. Technology is improving step by step. And, I think the topic I choose clearly demonstrates how our world is changing and how some technologies have an impact in the future. I believe my topic will help the audience in some way. Many of us use transportation on our day–to–day basis. Thus, the topic I choose makes transportation more accessible. Due to that reason, my speech was a little here and there. However, I believe after my speech the audience had a fundamental knowledge of my topic. 4.What are two things that you did well and two things that you could have done better in the delivery of this speech? Comparing to my pervious speeches, I thought I was more confident and effective. Since we were in the small room, I made sure that the tone and volume of my voices were balanced. Moreover, throughout the speeches I used various hand gestures to help me get connect with the audience. Preparation is one the most effective way to improve in any kinds of speech. Therefore, I could have done better by practice and preparing more. 5.What have you learned from the process of developing and giving this speech? How can you build on this experience and improve before your next speech? I have shown huge improvements on delivering speeches. This process helped me to understand different kinds of speech and their expectations. The only way I can think of improving is that to get myself be confortable and to do more preparations. • 7. Evaluating a Persuasive Speech After reviewing the sample persuasive speech titled "Putting the Brakes on Teenage Driving." I have concluded that the speaker is attempting to persuade the audience to agree with her in regards to the importance of increasing the minimum age for drivers to 18 or older. The speaker utilizes the Problem–Cause–Solution pattern and very closely mimicked the Monroe Motivated Sequence. However, she did not make a call for action which is the last step in Monroe's model, and that would have probably made a better presentation and also been more effective if she had requested that the audience sign a petition to demand change or give them the contact information of local legislation. • 8. Informative Speech Self Evaluation Informative Speech self–evaluation I don't think that I did so well during this last presentation. I did a lot of research about the drone I was talking about and I knew what I was going to say about the product. When I got up there I realized I didn't know it as well as I thought I was going to. I should have put more practice into my presentation. I felt like I practiced but it was all in my mind. I never really put my PowerPoint up and practiced it in front of someone. When I got up and started my presentation, I went through my attention getter and when I took my eyes off of my cards I never really knew what I was going to say next. It was a lack of practice. • 9. Devotional Speech Evaluation Devotional Speech Evaluation By far my devotional speech has been my best one yet. While giving this speech I didn't feel the normal butterflies or sweaty palms like I usually do but I felt confidence and ease while giving my speech. Even though this was my best speech, I still have things I can do to even better my speech so every time that I get up in front of an audience to speak it gets better and better. Nothing comes without practice, so the only thing I can do to get better is practice. In short, I still have things I can do to better prepare myself for my speech and things I can do to better my body language while giving a speech. For example, while giving my speech I tend to fidget with my shirt or something in my hand and that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Special Occasion Speech Evaluation Sample I thought that my special occasion speech went pretty well. In the video I could not see how the audience reacted to my speech so I will have to go off of what I remember and what I got back on my evaluation. As far as i could tell my audience was interested and listening intently. I was getting some nods and lots of direct eye contact as well as some smiles, but that may have just been people trying to be polite. In truth I really need to work on my organization. It's kind of a miracle that this turned out as well as it did. I had a few speech ideas in the week leading up to the speech, but they were very impersonal and frankly kind of boring. So the night before my performance day I wrote the whole speech and started practicing it and...show more content... It's something that I definitely noticed while giving the speech since I barely made the time minimum compared to when I practiced where I was at over four minutes. My introduction started off pretty solid but I fumbled a bit when I had to look at my notecard but i continued undeterred. I feel like I need some more transitions. The ones that I had were good, but there wasn't really any sort of transition from my expression of the values of the audiences to the values of my nominee. It wasn't anything major, but I was aware of it going in and so I can't not talk about it. My vocal fillers were almost nonexistent. Even when I had to look at my notecard to find my place I did not try to fill the silence with an "uh" or "um". My volume was fine. The real glaring problem to me was that I did a sort of shuffle. I am not sure if this is because that is something that I tend to do or if it was because I was pacing while practicing my speech. I felt that my diction was appropriate for my topic and understandable. There were a few times where I instinctively combined two different phrases that I used on different attempts into one combined phrase that didn't really work out very well. An example of this is when I combined the phrase "on the earth" and "in the world" and got the phrase "on the world" and had to correct Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. My Self-Evaluation Of Speech This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Evaluating An Informative Speech In an informative speech, the quintessential aspect that can make or break your speech is the audience. If the audience is a group of 12 year olds, then giving a speech on how to retire at 65 is not going to draw a positive response. Knowing certain demographics about the audience, including age, gender, race and many others should determine the topic of your speech. Accordingly, the relevancy of my speech played a pivotal role in its effectiveness because of how relatable an issue it was to my audience. Also, sharing the same demographic with the audience gave the speech a more familiar tone, than the normal speech given by someone who is older. In my informative speech, I effectively discussed the correct process of how to buy textbooks with minor errors because of an effective introduction, clear and concise content and relevant topic. An audience can immediately tell on how well a speech will be as soon as the introduction is completed. Evidently, my speech gave a strong introduction in which I outlined the layout of my speech, hinting at upcoming points and leading to a strong...show more content... Something that could have been added to the speech, would be to add a concluding statement that wraps up the speech before my concluding statement. • 14. Speech Evaluation Speech For my speech evaluation, I will be taking a look at a speech given by Dr. Rick Rigsby during his master's graduation ceremony. Rigsby begins his speech by making some comical jokes in the beginning to liven up the crowd. He relates to the audience by saying he wears cowboy boots and refers to himself as a "black neck redneck." After Rigsby gets the attention of his crowd, he begins to go into to the message he wants to deliver to his audience. He begins by telling the audience of his father who was a third grade dropout. Rigsby mentions that even though his father was a drop out he had some of the wisest life lessons to teach. Dr. Rigsby then quotes Mark Twain stating "I never let my schooling get in the way of my education." From their he explains that his father taught himself how to right and read during the Jim Crow era of our country. Dr. Rigsby begins totell the audience that he has three degrees and his brother is a judge, which he then says they are not the smartest in the family. He explains that his father was the most educated. He then begins to quote the sayings his father would always tell him from famous figures such as Michael Angelo, Henry Ford, and his fathers own personal quotes. From their he quotes Aristotle saying "You are what you repeatedly do." He then affirms that excellence should be a habit and not an act. • 15. Informative Speech My first informative speech was successful I would say. The topic I chose was Sephora and it was easy to do because I am interested in it. I did not have many problems looking up information or struggle to stay interested because Sephora is a very unique store/brand. It always makes doing research easier when you get to choose and are interested in your topic! One thing that I think i did very well was that I put a lot of time into my speech I spent hours looking up information that I wanted to talk about. I even wrote down things and decided not to talk about them because that information was not as relevant as some of the other things I wanted to talk about. I put a lot of time and effort into the preparation of my speech that I feel like it better prepared me for what I was going to talk about. By looking up all the information I was better educated on my topic. Being better educated I your topic can intrigue the audience because they trust you and know what you are saying so they will listen. The goal of the speech was to inform the audience on something new or to update them on things they may already know so you want to find information about the topic that maybe everybody does not already know. Finding a good opening sentence to get the audience involved or immediately interested in your topic can be hard, but by researching and knowing your audience it will help you in the start of your speech. Another thing that I think I executed well was that I did find information and by credible sources. I felt as if I sounded credible by finding reliable sources. I was able to find information that was new and credible by just searching for the right sources. I tried my best to avoid google and I tried to find information from a newspaper article or something that could be trusted. By having credible sources your speech is more likely to intrigues the audience and cause them to possibly go home and look up more information from those sources. Using sources helps your audience become better educated in the subject by what you say and even on their own. I also believe that I was well prepared with my speech. I would go over my speech numerous times a day so that I knew what I was going to say. I practiced Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This speech was delivered during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on 28 August 1963. This march was initially organized to focus on the economy, but as the date grew near, the focus shifted to social issues in the country. This march was attended by more than two hundred thousand people, to include the many actors, musicians, and the civil rights leaders. Martin Luther King said "I am happy to join you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation". (King). Martin Luther King said, "I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest–quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering." (King). Those words spoken by the author reflected his own suffering and experiences, which supported the credibility of the author. The use of the Ethos method was successful. Accordingly, Martin Luther King, in this speech spoke of injustice, preached with passion, and stressed the importance of non–violent protest so the voices could be heard. The author often spoke of how police brutality was the norm and that someday this would change. People believed in his every word and his every action. Martin Luther King, in his speech said, "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountains of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that will be free one day" (King). • 17. For my assignment, I have been asked to do a self–evaluation on my introductory speech. The introduction of my speech was excellent. I effectively communicated my quote, I stated the author, and I told the audience what I have learned because of the quote. My first transition at 0:37 was good, but it could have been a bit more fluid. I wish I would have found a better way to transition from my introduction to my first point, but I couldn't think of a different way. My other transitions were excellent. I used a timeline to effectively transition to my next story and I think it was very clear and fluid. My conclusion was explicit in telling my audience that my speech was coming to an end. My conclusion was effective in that I reiterated the main takeaways and I repeated the quote. According to my taped speech on my phone, the time was 4:27, which means I met the minimum time. For the organization of my speech, I would rate myself as "excellent." I would give myself this rating because I believe I really couldn't have done a more effective job. The narrative development and structure of my speech was excellent. Each of my stories was developed equally and they were all very comparable in length. Each of my stories contained context, trouble ahead, trouble, and the lesson learned. All three of my points contained the necessary details and characteristics of the people involved in my story. It was enough that it gave my stories some context, but not so much that it took away Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For the sake of this topic discussion, let's go with choosing Primrose School as your child's full time facility. If you're paying $205 a week, that averages out to be $820 a month and if you're paying $820 a month then that averages out to be $9,840 a year for one child. Karen Scrivo was very accurate when she said $10,000 a year. Now, if that's going to break your bank like it did mine, there is another option, in–home day cares.
