Looking back 15 years ago to the electronic and digital technology we had then compared to what
we have now is incredible to see first hand. Society knew this new technology would come but
never thought it would be here this immediate to where everyone and their grandmother's posse
some form of it. It is deranged that a great deal of individuals hate this new age where technology
is ubiquitous and taking over. Most of them that are not fond of electronic or digital technology
always tend to discourage it by saying that it causes "lack of social skills", it is a "constant
distraction" and sometimes that it has potential to become an "addiction". Personally, I believe it is a

Also another illustration of how electronic technology has given the capable to better everyday life
would be for the average user who drives a vehicle, they are now in a position to use their smart
phones to find the cheapest gas around them. This allows consumers to get the most out of the hard
earned money they spend throughout the day on gas. In short this electronic/digital technology
grants us the opportunity to better our lives so we can focus on what is necessary throughout the day
without wasting time. For the most part this is just one example out of the millions of others.
Furthermore, electronic/digital technology has enabled us to expand our knowledge in the fields we
stress most about. When I use my iPhone, most of the time I am gaining wisdom. Either pertaining to
school or my personal preference, either way I am learning. Having this type of technology has
authorized me to go further in–depth with subjects I find most interesting. I have always wanted to
learn coding and learn Spanish but never was able too the way I would like too. However with this
technology I was about to begin gaining knowledge in both subjects with so many different outlets
offer to understand the information. The best part would be how in–depth the lessons go, allowing

Does the U.S. population believe that technology and devices are overused? Are we aware of the
problems they are causing for not only our safety and focus, but even possibly our morals? Most
assume that they have their technology use "under control." Others know how serious their
addiction is. It is crucial for not only some of the population, but everyone, especially teenagers
and adults, to realize the seriousness of this issue. Once that is accomplished, we can utilize

technology is very important in society today, but we need to know the difference between using

technology causes, the effects of overusing it, and various solutions that can keep people less
distracted on their devices, and more attentive to their 'real' lives. On the other hand, it will also
look at some benefits of technology and ways it can make everyone focus. According to the
National Safety Council, in the United States, there are more than 3,000 car crashes each year
from distracted driving. From these 3,000 fatal accidents, more than half of the accidents were
from cell phone use. These is only the accidents that account for fatal crashes, there are more than
100 times that amount that result in injuries (National Safety Council, para. 1). Even those
everyday accidents in which people do not get hurt, it is still a major hassle dealing with the
others involved in the accident as well as the insurance companies on top of all that. Although
there are driving while texting laws in many U.S. states, it is not stopping young drivers from
constantly sending a quick Snapchat or text message. That is exactly why there needs to be new
methods to bring down texting while driving significantly. In a piece written by the National Safety

new cell phone blocking apps to prevent cell phone related car accidents. These apps are commonly

Everyday we hear about the astounding technological advances discovered year after year. Thirty
years ago, who would have thought that we would soon be able to communicate with a person half
way around the world through a computer? The possibilities of technology are endless and beyond
belief, but are these possibilities always beneficial in society, or are they causing more harm then

If something as old and simple as the television may have had such an impact, just imagine what
harm will come from recent and even future forms of technology.
Roger Rosenblatt, author of "Who Killed Privacy," states, "This is the age where everything is
known, everything told" (Rosenblatt 378). This observation could not have been said any better. In
our day and age everybody has to know everything about everyone. Privacy is no longer existent;
technology has taken all forms of it away from us. An Atlanta mail–order house offers a product
called Listenaider, which amplifies nearby sounds and is designed to look like a Walkman
(Rosenblatt 379). Avid movie watchers are quite familiar with what a voice changer is. To
disguise your voice all you would need is one of these. Speak into a small device and you are
instantly transformed into a man, woman or, as in the movies, a killer. For those nosey people
who have to know every conversation on every home phone, a scanner is now available. What
happened to privacy?!? As Rosenblatt states privacy was "killed" by the all too popular technology.
How can any of this be beneficial to society? It is sad that a person can't have a phone conversation
without worrying that somebody is listening in. It is frightening about what is out there and what
can be done. It gets more and more complicated and sophisticated everyday. It is even more
frightening about what the future holds.
