It can be daunting thinking about what you want to major in in college and what you want to do
for the rest of your life. Even when you think you have it figured out, you end up changing your
mind later on. Many people go into college undecided and waste their time taking classes that they
don't end up needing. A life changing experience can influence you in the career choice youwant to
make. For the majority of my senior year in high school, I never knew what my plans were after
graduation. I knew I had to go to college because if I didn't I would very much disappoint my
parents. Whenever a teacher or mentor would ask me about my plans after high school I would
always say something different. At first, I wanted to be a teacher. Then for some reason I decided
I wanted to be a dermatologist. Finally, my answer to the infamous question was, "I don't know,
I'm not really sure what I want to do yet." A few months later and after many more people asking
me the same thing, I would go through a life changing experience. It was a typical day; I was
running errands with my family. My siblings were in the back and my mom was in the
passenger's seat. When I'm driving and I know I have my family riding with me, I try my best to
be the best driver on the road. I keep my distance from the cars in front of me but somehow on this
day something peculiar happened. The car in front of me unexpectedly braked and I found myself
too close, with not enough time to brake without crashing into

My College Life Experience
My college life experience started in 2016, when I finally decided what it was I going to become.
College will not only help me with my own personal goals, but it will help with preparing for my
future career. Marketing Management is what I am studying for and I know a few things that I
expect to learn while educating myself on this specific subject. There are, of course, many new
things I am looking forward too when getting my diploma and degree. Once I receive my degree
from Coastal Pines TechnicalCollege, I will want to achieve great things in my life and make sure
that I keep trying once I get there.
The college education I am receiving is helping me achieve my own personal goals in life. Since I
have started college, I know my...show more content...
Once I receive the degree and I can get a job that I vision to have, I will then learn about more about
financial stability.
I expect to learn about not only marketing management, but also subjects surrounding the subject at
hand. I will expect to learn how to speak to everyone professionally in the business. Learning to
speak to my coworkers will consist of not only in the flesh, but in emails as well. With this learning
experience, there will be a huge involvement of entrepreneurship and small business management.
The year I have been going to college I have received my certificate for Small Business
Management and Retail Merchandise Management. I expect to be educated quite well on everything
needed for the job I hope to have in the future.
With my time at Coastal Pines Technical College, I will be most excited about learning every
detail of marketing management. The classes I have taken, business law was my favorite subject.
It was very interesting learning the different laws in the government and what one can do in any
case they end up not just in marketing. Another subject that caught my eye was the way the store
is set up and why because it answered many of questions I have had about the arrangements of a
store. I am excited about knowing more details about my major than I knew before. A subject I
fear but I am eager to take is accounting. I believe the reason why is because a lot of students say
that the class is very hard, but I always love a

Life Experience Essay
Adults seeking to complete their undergraduate or graduate degrees bring a unique perspective to the
college classroom – life experiences. For many adult students' life experiences delayed the ability
to attend college but valuable learning occurred by having careers, raising families, and traveling.
Schooling in the traditional sense is void of knowledge unless academic teachings can be
experienced and practiced in real–life (Carroll, 2015). While not all life experiences can be classified
as college–level learning, an adult brings a level of maturity to their studies that are not often seen
in the traditional college student. The value of experiential learning can be quantified not only in the
adult learner but also in those that choose a second career in teaching. The Growing Number and
Needs of Adult Students The National Center for Educational Statistics reported an increase of
adults enrolling in postsecondary degree programs occurred over a ten–year period from 1980 to
1990. In 1980 students over the age of 25 accounted for 38 percent of the total enrollment while
traditional students made up 62 percent. In 1990 the younger population enrolling in colleges would
drop 6 percent while older students increased 6 percent. This trend has stayed static through 2015
and remains so through 2026 projections (NCES, 2015). Adults who reenter the college classroom
differ from their traditional student counterparts because adults juggle multiple life roles. These roles

My Life Experience And My Outlook Essay
At this point in my life, as a person retiring out of an industry, and going back to school for a
second career, my outlook is certainly different than it was when I was in college 23 years ago. I
think that is primarily from life experiences, and having particular life experiences along my
journey. I loved the philosophy class as it seemed to help me answer some of those questions that
were lingering in the back of my head for years. And if it did not answer the questions, it certainly
gave me the tools to dig deeper into my own thoughts, and ideas, and challenge them. I start off with
what philosophy called metaphysics, the study of existence. Growing up in a fundamental religion I
always had questions about our beginning, or arche', as a human race. I was taught the preverbal
Adam and Eve idea, but that brought about so many other questions. Who was before them? What
if there was an alternative? Can we trust the historical data in the Bible? Where is God? Why is
God "above us"? How do we know? All of these questions I had put away, thinking I must have been
the only one that must think this way. Don't misunderstand me there are elements of my religion
that I cherish and it will provide me the ethical structure for my being. I understand that if society
understood in the arche' of our religion, we would find that we have more similarities than
differences. During the time we studied Plato, and his ideal forms, I saw how not only my

My College Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and
explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior
year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard
people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully
understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at
Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and
obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a

I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the
teacher would constantly remind the students when certain assignments were due, but this was not
the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an
assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These
were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the
most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the
confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time
had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately
began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These
factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I
learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize
myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead
of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my
back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced
them. I believe this experience was the reason for my

I have lived my entire life in the shadow of the Boulder flatirons, surrounded by the city's 'hippie'
culture and diverse population. My life experience and worldview have been shaped by my own
background, but by the diverse life experiences of the people who I interact with as well. I come
from a tight–knit, well–educated family. Eight of my parents nine siblings live in Colorado, so my
entire childhood was spent in the company of my extended family fostering a deep sense of love,
community, and unbounded support. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and from a young
age, she passed onto me a great love of learning. My entire life, I was given the resources to succeed

Before joining the wait–staff team at the nursing home, I had never seen him before, despite
spending seven hours a day in the same building for the past three years. Over folded napkins, I
learned that he spent much of his time in school across the street, smoking and doing drugs. My
whole life, I have been very invested in school, I didn't have the time nor the desire to fraternize
with this other group of students. I took every advanced class and spent every afternoon
participating in History Day or science club. At Boulder High, I'd taken as many AP classes as I
could since my freshman year. Until I met him, I hadn't realized how many people I had never
crossed paths with, even in my own grade. Although we had chosen very different directions in
life and I did not approve of his decisions, I was intrigued by his motivations and his life
experiences. Meeting him helped me realize the broad spectrum of people in my life and taught
me to embrace the different trajectories of our life experiences; because, despite our differences,
we worked side by side, making salads and cutting pies. No one follows the same path through life,
but my work experiences altered my preconceived notions about the people around me. I learned
how to work and form relationships with people whose life experiences are very different from my

My Experience Of College Freshman
Good Day Everyone I would like to share my first semester in college life and my experience. My
first semester in college. I notice about've been noticing how college freshmen are so obviously
college freshmen. I was extremely nervous about meeting people and making friends at National
College of Business and Arts. I also totally remember the excitement, anxiousness and remarkable
amount of cluelessness that comes with being a brand spankin' new college freshman. The first
semester of my freshman year of college was a whole bunch of not getting what I wanted. Not
getting things that I applied for. Not fitting into the group of people that I wanted to be friends
with. Not having any of the guys that I was interested in be interested back. Not achieving the
grades I wanted (and kind of assumed I would get). That's just a whole lot of experience...show more

And it's an experience that I offer to current college freshmen to learn from. But, even more
valuable than my lessons learned, is your own experience. I want to lock down and be completely
focused on school and get the grades I want. College is way more enjoyable when you are getting
good grades. At one point during my first semester my grades weren't too good, and I wasn't
enjoying college. I was always stressed out and worrying constantly. Every time I went to sleep I
would worry, and it really affected me. Now, I started the semester off strong and I'm really
enjoying college and I have no worries in the back of my mind Everyone has a different
adjustment to college. Maybe you're the one who can and will hit the ground running. Or maybe
you're like me, and you just need to learn to be patient. So, even if you feel like you're not getting
what you want out of college, just realize that it is an experience for you to learn and grow from.

Reflection Of My College Experience
This course like my entire first semester of university have provided me with both many
challenges as well as taught me many lessons not only for my university career, but for the rest of
my life. As I reflect back on the semester, I recall telling myself at least once a week that I wanted
to drop out of school, followed by many breakdowns, crying fits and calling defeat. The past few
months, haven't been at all easy for me, I have thought many times I wasn't intelligent enough to
be in university, I was disappointed with some of the grades I received and I was constantly
engulfed in a swarm of stress. Despite all these tough times, I have had many good one's as well, I
have made new friends which are now integral to my everyday life and I have enhanced my
knowledge to a new degree. Some of the many lessons that I've already learned in my short
university experience include how to manage my time, the importance of meeting deadlines as well
as the continuous struggle of balancing the various different facets of life.
A range of different and useful topics have been discussed since the start of Pathways to lifelong
learning, some of which I found to be of particular help. The college expectations which we learned
towards the beginning of the course was especially helpful to learning how to become a critical
thinker, something that was not very touched upon throughout my time in high school. I now use
Bloom's Taxonomy when beginning to prepare for an important paper or presentation. In addition
to the first chapter, I had also found great help in the second chapter on the skills needed to succeed
in school. In the past, I used rehearsal as my main strategy to memorize for any upcoming tests or
exams, however that often resulted in either retrieval failure or ineffective encoding. I now use
chunking and elaboration as my main strategies to studying as I find it most effective when studying
and retrieving information, especially when I am needing to memorize and learn a big amount of
material.
Now that I have completed Pathways to lifelong learning, I have come to realize that the extreme
stress I endured as mentioned earlier was due to my poor time management skills as well as my poor
stress management. I

A week and a half before Thanksgiving break I found myself overwhelmed in an instant after
learning the sheer amount of events and work that would come up. Leading to November sixteenth
and seventeenth, the deadline for all my assignments, I was given my first college research paper
to due, an important essay for my connections class, a midterm for my calculus two class, and two
quizzes and a test for my Japanese class, all due in the span of those two days. I additionally had
individual issues around then that affected me further, they include the stress of registration,
roommate issues and the knowledge that my mom would not be home for Thanksgiving due to her
visiting my grandma to stay with her through the sickness. At that moment I felt a multitude of
emotions, which prompt my mental breakdowns and crying consistently. I felt insufficient and
futile, how would I complete this work on time and with good marks? I had to keep my composure
and try to push through by first, making a goal to take as much time as necessary and complete one
thing at a time, and second to take away my spare time and club time to put my work as my need,
which would give me more opportunities to finish my work. These goals, many late nights and two
all–nighters got me through the majority of the work, but eventually deteriorated my sanity, my
physical and mental well being. Some issues that arose from these late nights were me oversleeping
and missing a very important calc review class, the

My Most Memorable Experience In College
My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although
it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the
people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories,
but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a
few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the
semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester.
My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the
reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content...
I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my
mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I
obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the
washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since
living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself
is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make
many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks
to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember
getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm
reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to
my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to
write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well,
but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course
of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the
very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection

The Realities of College Life Essay
As I graduated high school, I thought college would just be yet another four years of high school,
and I was wrong. College opens many new doors in a young man or woman's life. There are new
responsibilities and pressures that you will have to deal with, and with more freedom these
responsibilities and pressures can be difficult to handle. College has changed a great deal over the
years and these changes, such as more freedoms, make college a much more challenging experience.
You need to start preparing for college now by making yourself more responsible and having more
self–control. Although you think college is merely partying with easy classes on the side, I have
experienced pressures and work loads that make the experience challenging...show more content...
They did not ever want to think they would change jobs. They want to know what is going to
happen in their lives till they get to their prepaid grave (292). Zinsser believes that students need to
stop worrying so much about the pay of their jobs. He wants students to study the subject that
interests them, not which career pays the most. There is definitely one unifying aspect that is the
same between college now and then and that is there are pressures.
In college life, students face many pressures. One of my biggest stressors was keeping my student
scholarship. After coming in to college with a 3.3 grade point average, I knew that keeping a 3.0
in college, for my scholarship, was going to be a challenge that I had not yet experienced. This
caused me to work even harder and sometimes even too hard. The scholarship played a large
factor in choosing Baldwin Wallace as my school of choice, so retaining my reward is of the
utmost importance to both me personally, and my parents financially. As I began classes I
realized that the work load seemed a lot larger than high school, and sometimes as if it were never
going to end. I soon realized how to balance my time between school work and making grades, as
well as meeting new people and having fun. There are many enjoyable things that make college the
great experience it has been so far, so finding an equilibrium of hard work and good times has been
one the best new attributes I have

An Experience that changed my Life
Life is full of learning and it is mostly due to our daily life experiences. These experiences are
mostly based on our surrounding environment from where we learn new things every day. But all
these experiences are a result of our keen observations out of daily routines. It is very important to
note that life also provides us with some chances to experience new people or places that are indeed
out of the ordinary. That is thetime we indeed learn new and unique things, hence these are unique
experiences of our life which are remembered by us throughout our life span. I have visited USA
and this was indeed a life time experience. Going through new and strikingly important things really
made me filled up with pleasure. It was indeed very joyful and marvelous experience. I am very
happy and expecting many more things and unique experience coming my way and making me
enjoy new and exciting things.
USA is a place which is full of new experiences that is what makes it even more exciting due to all
kinds of diversity in food in recreation and work; hence everything here is much more diverse
than a normal place available for recreation anywhere in the world. This was the first time in my

My College Experience : My Journey In College
If anything could be say about my first semester of freshmen year is that, so far, it's definitely
been a journey. In my opinion the wonderful part of college is that the independence granted
allows for personal growth and responsibility which I Seem to be thriving on. This school year I
have learned a lot about myself, but in a much more real sense it was just realizing what I already
had. Having the privilege of being a Catholic Scholar has played a monumental role in my young
adult life. Since the commencement of the semester the opportunity to bond with my cohort and
form relationships with those who engage in a similar prayerful life has been quite amazing. Even
without being in the program I still would be going to mass as well as partaking in lecturing, being
an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, as well as also be in Music Ministry, however I
would not have the friends or support system with the Catholic Scholars program. It's been a huge
source of love and friendship and honestly it has aided in making my transition to college life a
breeze. As a student, I have learned that I do extremely well in an independent setting. I really
enjoy being able to set my own studying hours and having the ability to interact with a multitude of
people throughout the course of my classes. However, I have also learned that college has two
modes; everything hectic at once and a slow relaxed pace. It's taught me to challenge myself further

Students Should Live in Dorms
College is a life changing experience for students. College is a new environment for most students
and comes with lots of challenges. Things such as the increased difficulty of academic work and not
being around the same social groups as a student was before college can make the transition very
difficult. One of the best things a student can do to help with this transition is to live in a campus
residence hall. Students should live in dorms because of the community that this creates. Students
will gain many beneficial social interactions, will be able to better complete academic work, and
will ease the adjustment to college life.
Social Interactions Living in the college dorms will allow students many beneficial social
interactions that they would otherwise not have. College dorms are usually divided into floors.
Each floor will have a Resident Assistant that reports to a Resident Director. The Resident Assistant
will organize events for the floor so that the students living together can get to know each other.
This is a great opportunity for the students to meet and find others that have similar interests or
majors. Throughout the semester there will be floor meetings and activities that will help the
students meet new people and make more friends. Generally students will have at least one
roommate. This can be someone you know or it could be randomly assigned. This is a great
opportunity to make a good friend when you first move to college.

When I walked into college for the first time I had various expectations. Some of which were good
and some were bad. For instance, after listening to people talk about it, just the thought of going to
college was terrifying to even contemplate, but then sometimes it would appear to be impossible.
However, after experiencing college firsthand I can say that my expectation and the reality were
quite different. Although it can be intimidating, an enormous amount of work, and a considerable
amount of stress to handle; college does not have to be terrifying, and is definitely feasible through
dedication and perseverance.

To me, working to achieve my ultimate dream in life, which is to become a registered nurse, is
worth all the effort and time it takes to fulfil that dream. Therefore, even though I know it will be
hard and is going to take dedication, going to college is the only way to succeed in fulfilling my
dreams. To achieve anything in life requires extreme commitment, but if
I set my mind to attain a specific goal; there is nothing that can stop me. My expectations and the
reality were very different in terms of being capable of managing everything in life in addition to
being a college student. For example, in my mind being a college student was going to be
entirely too stressful and that I would never be able to handle everything that life throws as a
result of being too busy with my studies. On the contrary, being a full time student is not nearly as
hard as by brain made it out to be. Once again, as long as college is prioritized properly, also, given
that I am diligent in my studying anything is possible. In order to achieve the optimum results
education must be at the top of the priority list, and if for any reason it falls below other things; my
grades will suffer. Furthermore, diligence is vital to succeeding in college. Although it is
intimidating, college does not have to be terrifying. In contrast to my earlier assumption, this phase

NMSU Personal Statement
Living alone, away from home is a challenge millions of students have to undergo each year
across the globe. It is like starting kindergarten again. You are entering a new place, with new
people, starting a new phase of your life. After being separated form your parents, some may cry,
others will run with joy at the taste of independence. However, as hard as it may be for some to
admit it, they will miss their family and previous way of living. This is why finding the right college
is so important to students. They have to feel comfortable in the new environment. NMSU has
not only has not only the loving family oriented environment that I was raised in, but Las Cruces
itself is a city with a rare environment that I have not encountered anywhere else. Las Cruces has
the people that are community oriented, and in my short travels and encounters with them, they
have already taught me so much about what it means to be a part of a community. The way they
encourage youth to go out and learn new things, is something I had always looked for growing
up, and I know that teaching, volunteering, and being a part of my community is a huge part of
what I want to continue doing when I go to college. To me, dorm life encompasses college life.
College is a time to grow as a person and discover different things about yourself. College opens
doors for you that high school doesn't. And college can change you and shape you in ways that you

Oneonta's majors are also similar to Binghamton, but this college seems to put more effort into

College essay
Growing up I fondly remember not knowing where I belonged. Even to this day I still ponder on
this very thing. I was casted away by my mother and father, forced to live with my abusive
grandmother. Who at every chance never wasted a minute berating me for every little thing I did.
In time I grew to hate her like many other things. For most of my younger years I stayed in a hot
trailer, on the back skirts of civilization. We didn't have any AC and barely any cable, we were
completely off the grid. IВґd work in the field with my papa. He was a tall, dark skin islander.
Hailing from The Virgin Islands, his thick ,harsh accent fills my head even to this day. I
remember summers filled with hard work, sweat, little play, and sugar cane. My perspective of
life has always been cynical. I don't exactly remember when I lost my innocence, or if i ever did.
But I ,always remember looking at the world with heated distrust. Things only got worse from
there. We moved for my first day of school,so we could be closer to the school district. We moved
closer to what some people would call the hood. I personally didn't see my neighborhood as such,
but that was what it was labeled. My house was fairly nice, red and cosy despite the environment
being unpleasant.
My first year of school was hectic. The bullying was unbearable. I remember being called anything
but a child of God. I remember being picked at about my darker skin. MY coarse hair texture. This

This year has been a life changing experience. This semester I took three classes, English, Advanced
Reading, and Statistics. Knowing myself I thought that I was good in any mathematical subject
because I liked maths, but this semester of taking a statistics course changed my mind. The reading
course is practically the same to any other English subject I did in high school. In the first week two
weeks of the semester I thought that I was doing well in my statistics class and my advanced
reading class and not in my English class. This is so because I thought my grades were low but
when midterm grades came out I realized that I was actually doing better in English class than the
statistics and reading class. I never liked English. I had always dread the thought of having to

Nevertheless, it was the techniques that I developed during this semester that has helped me to
become better at thinking critically, to balance school and my personal time, and to not stress
myself. This is my second semester of college. I started in spring semester 2017. Over the
summer holiday I went through a painful breakup, and being away from my family and being

And most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living
on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on me. I began to fall apart. I worked two
jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their
own financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships
with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing with anxiety, and my confidence level
dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends
and family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry
on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a façade for the people around me as though
everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that
was always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going
through a depressed time in my life, made me take a stand to make changes in my life. I knew I
could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. I am a firm believer in the
phrase, "if you see something in your life you do not like, then

College Life Experience Essay

  • 1. It can be daunting thinking about what you want to major in in college and what you want to do for the rest of your life. Even when you think you have it figured out, you end up changing your mind later on. Many people go into college undecided and waste their time taking classes that they don't end up needing. A life changing experience can influence you in the career choice youwant to make. For the majority of my senior year in high school, I never knew what my plans were after graduation. I knew I had to go to college because if I didn't I would very much disappoint my parents. Whenever a teacher or mentor would ask me about my plans after high school I would always say something different. At first, I wanted to be a teacher. Then for some reason I decided I wanted to be a dermatologist. Finally, my answer to the infamous question was, "I don't know, I'm not really sure what I want to do yet." A few months later and after many more people asking me the same thing, I would go through a life changing experience. It was a typical day; I was running errands with my family. My siblings were in the back and my mom was in the passenger's seat. When I'm driving and I know I have my family riding with me, I try my best to be the best driver on the road. I keep my distance from the cars in front of me but somehow on this day something peculiar happened. The car in front of me unexpectedly braked and I found myself too close, with not enough time to brake without crashing into Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My College Life Experience My college life experience started in 2016, when I finally decided what it was I going to become. College will not only help me with my own personal goals, but it will help with preparing for my future career. Marketing Management is what I am studying for and I know a few things that I expect to learn while educating myself on this specific subject. There are, of course, many new things I am looking forward too when getting my diploma and degree. Once I receive my degree from Coastal Pines TechnicalCollege, I will want to achieve great things in my life and make sure that I keep trying once I get there. The college education I am receiving is helping me achieve my own personal goals in life. Since I have started college, I know my...show more content... Once I receive the degree and I can get a job that I vision to have, I will then learn about more about financial stability. I expect to learn about not only marketing management, but also subjects surrounding the subject at hand. I will expect to learn how to speak to everyone professionally in the business. Learning to speak to my coworkers will consist of not only in the flesh, but in emails as well. With this learning experience, there will be a huge involvement of entrepreneurship and small business management. The year I have been going to college I have received my certificate for Small Business Management and Retail Merchandise Management. I expect to be educated quite well on everything needed for the job I hope to have in the future. With my time at Coastal Pines Technical College, I will be most excited about learning every detail of marketing management. The classes I have taken, business law was my favorite subject. It was very interesting learning the different laws in the government and what one can do in any case they end up not just in marketing. Another subject that caught my eye was the way the store is set up and why because it answered many of questions I have had about the arrangements of a store. I am excited about knowing more details about my major than I knew before. A subject I fear but I am eager to take is accounting. I believe the reason why is because a lot of students say that the class is very hard, but I always love a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Life Experience Essay Adults seeking to complete their undergraduate or graduate degrees bring a unique perspective to the college classroom – life experiences. For many adult students' life experiences delayed the ability to attend college but valuable learning occurred by having careers, raising families, and traveling. Schooling in the traditional sense is void of knowledge unless academic teachings can be experienced and practiced in real–life (Carroll, 2015). While not all life experiences can be classified as college–level learning, an adult brings a level of maturity to their studies that are not often seen in the traditional college student. The value of experiential learning can be quantified not only in the adult learner but also in those that choose a second career in teaching. The Growing Number and Needs of Adult Students The National Center for Educational Statistics reported an increase of adults enrolling in postsecondary degree programs occurred over a ten–year period from 1980 to 1990. In 1980 students over the age of 25 accounted for 38 percent of the total enrollment while traditional students made up 62 percent. In 1990 the younger population enrolling in colleges would drop 6 percent while older students increased 6 percent. This trend has stayed static through 2015 and remains so through 2026 projections (NCES, 2015). Adults who reenter the college classroom differ from their traditional student counterparts because adults juggle multiple life roles. These roles Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Life Experience And My Outlook Essay At this point in my life, as a person retiring out of an industry, and going back to school for a second career, my outlook is certainly different than it was when I was in college 23 years ago. I think that is primarily from life experiences, and having particular life experiences along my journey. I loved the philosophy class as it seemed to help me answer some of those questions that were lingering in the back of my head for years. And if it did not answer the questions, it certainly gave me the tools to dig deeper into my own thoughts, and ideas, and challenge them. I start off with what philosophy called metaphysics, the study of existence. Growing up in a fundamental religion I always had questions about our beginning, or arche', as a human race. I was taught the preverbal Adam and Eve idea, but that brought about so many other questions. Who was before them? What if there was an alternative? Can we trust the historical data in the Bible? Where is God? Why is God "above us"? How do we know? All of these questions I had put away, thinking I must have been the only one that must think this way. Don't misunderstand me there are elements of my religion that I cherish and it will provide me the ethical structure for my being. I understand that if society understood in the arche' of our religion, we would find that we have more similarities than differences. During the time we studied Plato, and his ideal forms, I saw how not only my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My College Experience Essay examples My College Experience Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more content... I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. I have lived my entire life in the shadow of the Boulder flatirons, surrounded by the city's 'hippie' culture and diverse population. My life experience and worldview have been shaped by my own background, but by the diverse life experiences of the people who I interact with as well. I come from a tight–knit, well–educated family. Eight of my parents nine siblings live in Colorado, so my entire childhood was spent in the company of my extended family fostering a deep sense of love, community, and unbounded support. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and from a young age, she passed onto me a great love of learning. My entire life, I was given the resources to succeed and excel in academics. My growing passion for learning was cultivated...show more content... Before joining the wait–staff team at the nursing home, I had never seen him before, despite spending seven hours a day in the same building for the past three years. Over folded napkins, I learned that he spent much of his time in school across the street, smoking and doing drugs. My whole life, I have been very invested in school, I didn't have the time nor the desire to fraternize with this other group of students. I took every advanced class and spent every afternoon participating in History Day or science club. At Boulder High, I'd taken as many AP classes as I could since my freshman year. Until I met him, I hadn't realized how many people I had never crossed paths with, even in my own grade. Although we had chosen very different directions in life and I did not approve of his decisions, I was intrigued by his motivations and his life experiences. Meeting him helped me realize the broad spectrum of people in my life and taught me to embrace the different trajectories of our life experiences; because, despite our differences, we worked side by side, making salads and cutting pies. No one follows the same path through life, but my work experiences altered my preconceived notions about the people around me. • 7. My Experience Of College Freshman Good Day Everyone I would like to share my first semester in college life and my experience. My first semester in college. I notice about've been noticing how college freshmen are so obviously college freshmen. I was extremely nervous about meeting people and making friends at National College of Business and Arts. I also totally remember the excitement, anxiousness and remarkable amount of cluelessness that comes with being a brand spankin' new college freshman. The first semester of my freshman year of college was a whole bunch of not getting what I wanted. Not getting things that I applied for. Not fitting into the group of people that I wanted to be friends with. Not having any of the guys that I was interested in be interested back. Not achieving the grades I wanted (and kind of assumed I would get). That's just a whole lot of experience...show more content... And it's an experience that I offer to current college freshmen to learn from. But, even more valuable than my lessons learned, is your own experience. I want to lock down and be completely focused on school and get the grades I want. College is way more enjoyable when you are getting good grades. At one point during my first semester my grades weren't too good, and I wasn't enjoying college. I was always stressed out and worrying constantly. Every time I went to sleep I would worry, and it really affected me. Now, I started the semester off strong and I'm really enjoying college and I have no worries in the back of my mind Everyone has a different adjustment to college. Maybe you're the one who can and will hit the ground running. Or maybe you're like me, and you just need to learn to be patient. So, even if you feel like you're not getting what you want out of college, just realize that it is an experience for you to learn and grow from. • 8. Reflection Of My College Experience This course like my entire first semester of university have provided me with both many challenges as well as taught me many lessons not only for my university career, but for the rest of my life. As I reflect back on the semester, I recall telling myself at least once a week that I wanted to drop out of school, followed by many breakdowns, crying fits and calling defeat. The past few months, haven't been at all easy for me, I have thought many times I wasn't intelligent enough to be in university, I was disappointed with some of the grades I received and I was constantly engulfed in a swarm of stress. Despite all these tough times, I have had many good one's as well, I have made new friends which are now integral to my everyday life and I have enhanced my knowledge to a new degree. Some of the many lessons that I've already learned in my short university experience include how to manage my time, the importance of meeting deadlines as well as the continuous struggle of balancing the various different facets of life. A range of different and useful topics have been discussed since the start of Pathways to lifelong learning, some of which I found to be of particular help. The college expectations which we learned towards the beginning of the course was especially helpful to learning how to become a critical thinker, something that was not very touched upon throughout my time in high school. I now use Bloom's Taxonomy when beginning to prepare for an important paper or presentation. In addition to the first chapter, I had also found great help in the second chapter on the skills needed to succeed in school. In the past, I used rehearsal as my main strategy to memorize for any upcoming tests or exams, however that often resulted in either retrieval failure or ineffective encoding. I now use chunking and elaboration as my main strategies to studying as I find it most effective when studying and retrieving information, especially when I am needing to memorize and learn a big amount of material. Now that I have completed Pathways to lifelong learning, I have come to realize that the extreme stress I endured as mentioned earlier was due to my poor time management skills as well as my poor stress management. • 9. A week and a half before Thanksgiving break I found myself overwhelmed in an instant after learning the sheer amount of events and work that would come up. Leading to November sixteenth and seventeenth, the deadline for all my assignments, I was given my first college research paper to due, an important essay for my connections class, a midterm for my calculus two class, and two quizzes and a test for my Japanese class, all due in the span of those two days. I additionally had individual issues around then that affected me further, they include the stress of registration, roommate issues and the knowledge that my mom would not be home for Thanksgiving due to her visiting my grandma to stay with her through the sickness. At that moment I felt a multitude of emotions, which prompt my mental breakdowns and crying consistently. I felt insufficient and futile, how would I complete this work on time and with good marks? I had to keep my composure and try to push through by first, making a goal to take as much time as necessary and complete one thing at a time, and second to take away my spare time and club time to put my work as my need, which would give me more opportunities to finish my work. These goals, many late nights and two all–nighters got me through the majority of the work, but eventually deteriorated my sanity, my physical and mental well being. Some issues that arose from these late nights were me oversleeping and missing a very important calc review class, the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Most Memorable Experience In College My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories, but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester. My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content... I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well, but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Realities of College Life Essay As I graduated high school, I thought college would just be yet another four years of high school, and I was wrong. College opens many new doors in a young man or woman's life. There are new responsibilities and pressures that you will have to deal with, and with more freedom these responsibilities and pressures can be difficult to handle. College has changed a great deal over the years and these changes, such as more freedoms, make college a much more challenging experience. You need to start preparing for college now by making yourself more responsible and having more self–control. Although you think college is merely partying with easy classes on the side, I have experienced pressures and work loads that make the experience challenging...show more content... They did not ever want to think they would change jobs. They want to know what is going to happen in their lives till they get to their prepaid grave (292). Zinsser believes that students need to stop worrying so much about the pay of their jobs. He wants students to study the subject that interests them, not which career pays the most. There is definitely one unifying aspect that is the same between college now and then and that is there are pressures. In college life, students face many pressures. One of my biggest stressors was keeping my student scholarship. After coming in to college with a 3.3 grade point average, I knew that keeping a 3.0 in college, for my scholarship, was going to be a challenge that I had not yet experienced. This caused me to work even harder and sometimes even too hard. The scholarship played a large factor in choosing Baldwin Wallace as my school of choice, so retaining my reward is of the utmost importance to both me personally, and my parents financially. As I began classes I realized that the work load seemed a lot larger than high school, and sometimes as if it were never going to end. I soon realized how to balance my time between school work and making grades, as well as meeting new people and having fun. There are many enjoyable things that make college the great experience it has been so far, so finding an equilibrium of hard work and good times has been one the best new attributes I have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. An Experience that changed my Life Life is full of learning and it is mostly due to our daily life experiences. These experiences are mostly based on our surrounding environment from where we learn new things every day. But all these experiences are a result of our keen observations out of daily routines. It is very important to note that life also provides us with some chances to experience new people or places that are indeed out of the ordinary. That is thetime we indeed learn new and unique things, hence these are unique experiences of our life which are remembered by us throughout our life span. I have visited USA and this was indeed a life time experience. Going through new and strikingly important things really made me filled up with pleasure. It was indeed very joyful and marvelous experience. I am very happy and expecting many more things and unique experience coming my way and making me enjoy new and exciting things. USA is a place which is full of new experiences that is what makes it even more exciting due to all kinds of diversity in food in recreation and work; hence everything here is much more diverse than a normal place available for recreation anywhere in the world. • 13. My College Experience : My Journey In College If anything could be say about my first semester of freshmen year is that, so far, it's definitely been a journey. In my opinion the wonderful part of college is that the independence granted allows for personal growth and responsibility which I Seem to be thriving on. This school year I have learned a lot about myself, but in a much more real sense it was just realizing what I already had. Having the privilege of being a Catholic Scholar has played a monumental role in my young adult life. Since the commencement of the semester the opportunity to bond with my cohort and form relationships with those who engage in a similar prayerful life has been quite amazing. Even without being in the program I still would be going to mass as well as partaking in lecturing, being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, as well as also be in Music Ministry, however I would not have the friends or support system with the Catholic Scholars program. It's been a huge source of love and friendship and honestly it has aided in making my transition to college life a breeze. As a student, I have learned that I do extremely well in an independent setting. I really enjoy being able to set my own studying hours and having the ability to interact with a multitude of people throughout the course of my classes. However, I have also learned that college has two modes; everything hectic at once and a slow relaxed pace. It's taught me to challenge myself further and to push myself to remain Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Students Should Live in Dorms College is a life changing experience for students. College is a new environment for most students and comes with lots of challenges. Things such as the increased difficulty of academic work and not being around the same social groups as a student was before college can make the transition very difficult. One of the best things a student can do to help with this transition is to live in a campus residence hall. Students should live in dorms because of the community that this creates. Students will gain many beneficial social interactions, will be able to better complete academic work, and will ease the adjustment to college life. Social Interactions Living in the college dorms will allow students many beneficial social interactions that they would otherwise not have. College dorms are usually divided into floors. Each floor will have a Resident Assistant that reports to a Resident Director. The Resident Assistant will organize events for the floor so that the students living together can get to know each other. This is a great opportunity for the students to meet and find others that have similar interests or majors. Throughout the semester there will be floor meetings and activities that will help the students meet new people and make more friends. Generally students will have at least one roommate. This can be someone you know or it could be randomly assigned. This is a great opportunity to make a good friend when you first move to college. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For instance, after listening to people talk about it, just the thought of going to college was terrifying to even contemplate, but then sometimes it would appear to be impossible. However, after experiencing college firsthand I can say that my expectation and the reality were quite different. Although it can be intimidating, an enormous amount of work, and a considerable amount of stress to handle; college does not have to be terrifying, and is definitely feasible through dedication and perseverance. My first expectation of college was that it would be daunting, and that I would walk through life as a wallflower....show more content... To me, working to achieve my ultimate dream in life, which is to become a registered nurse, is worth all the effort and time it takes to fulfil that dream. Therefore, even though I know it will be hard and is going to take dedication, going to college is the only way to succeed in fulfilling my dreams. To achieve anything in life requires extreme commitment, but if I set my mind to attain a specific goal; there is nothing that can stop me. My expectations and the reality were very different in terms of being capable of managing everything in life in addition to being a college student. For example, in my mind being a college student was going to be entirely too stressful and that I would never be able to handle everything that life throws as a result of being too busy with my studies. On the contrary, being a full time student is not nearly as hard as by brain made it out to be. Once again, as long as college is prioritized properly, also, given that I am diligent in my studying anything is possible. In order to achieve the optimum results education must be at the top of the priority list, and if for any reason it falls below other things; my grades will suffer. Furthermore, diligence is vital to succeeding in college. Although it is intimidating, college does not have to be terrifying. In contrast to my earlier assumption, this phase on life is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. NMSU Personal Statement Living alone, away from home is a challenge millions of students have to undergo each year across the globe. It is like starting kindergarten again. You are entering a new place, with new people, starting a new phase of your life. After being separated form your parents, some may cry, others will run with joy at the taste of independence. However, as hard as it may be for some to admit it, they will miss their family and previous way of living. This is why finding the right college is so important to students. They have to feel comfortable in the new environment. NMSU has not only has not only the loving family oriented environment that I was raised in, but Las Cruces itself is a city with a rare environment that I have not encountered anywhere else. Las Cruces has the people that are community oriented, and in my short travels and encounters with them, they have already taught me so much about what it means to be a part of a community. The way they encourage youth to go out and learn new things, is something I had always looked for growing up, and I know that teaching, volunteering, and being a part of my community is a huge part of what I want to continue doing when I go to college. To me, dorm life encompasses college life. College is a time to grow as a person and discover different things about yourself. College opens doors for you that high school doesn't. And college can change you and shape you in ways that you might not imagine. This is why I look forward to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. College Tour Experience Essay COLLEGE TOUR EXPERIENCE One of my main goals in life is to be successful. Becoming successful is a lot of hard work. There are a total of twelve grades needed to be completed in this lifetime, just to be able to gain acknowledgement and education of what will occur in life. Well I've made it to my junior year in high school and it's been a rough road but I'm still pushing through. One of my major goals is to make it to college to start my career and have a successful future. The current high school that I'm attending is teachers preparatory. The deans, Ms. Wilson, Mr. Otto and Mr.Gansrow allowed me to participate in this year college tour. Our bus trip to the first college is Binghamton University. All I can think about is this can...show more content... Another college that seems to provide that attention is Oneonta. We arrived at Oneonta College and the first thing I see is SNOW!!! This tells me that the temperature up here is cooler then the temperature in Brooklyn. The appearance of the school seemed pretty quiet and small, which is an advantage towards Binghamton. When we entered a young man who has graduated from Oneonta and now works there explained to us about admissions, programs, and life on and around Oneonta College. Our tour guidance at Oneonta was a junior name Alexis who majored in education and biology so far in the school. The first area she showed us was the diner area which was smaller than the lunch space in Binghamton but it was cozy and comfortable. Next were the classrooms which some can fit up to 300 students and some were made for smaller classes such as 17 students to 1 instructor. Classroom setups are similar to Binghamton but seeming that Binghamton has more space the classroom sizes may decrease. Oneonta's majors are also similar to Binghamton, but this college seems to put more effort into education majors which is another advantage. Lastly, Alexis showed us the dorm rooms which were very short in height but made up in length and width. The rooms were smaller and less spacious as the ones in Binghamton, but they were cozy and comfortable enough to live in. The classes seemed to be decent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My College : My Experience Of My Life College essay Growing up I fondly remember not knowing where I belonged. Even to this day I still ponder on this very thing. I was casted away by my mother and father, forced to live with my abusive grandmother. Who at every chance never wasted a minute berating me for every little thing I did. In time I grew to hate her like many other things. For most of my younger years I stayed in a hot trailer, on the back skirts of civilization. We didn't have any AC and barely any cable, we were completely off the grid. IВґd work in the field with my papa. He was a tall, dark skin islander. Hailing from The Virgin Islands, his thick ,harsh accent fills my head even to this day. I remember summers filled with hard work, sweat, little play, and sugar cane. My perspective of life has always been cynical. I don't exactly remember when I lost my innocence, or if i ever did. But I ,always remember looking at the world with heated distrust. Things only got worse from there. We moved for my first day of school,so we could be closer to the school district. We moved closer to what some people would call the hood. I personally didn't see my neighborhood as such, but that was what it was labeled. My house was fairly nice, red and cosy despite the environment being unpleasant. My first year of school was hectic. The bullying was unbearable. I remember being called anything but a child of God. I remember being picked at about my darker skin. MY coarse hair texture. This caused me to hate what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. This year has been a life changing experience. This semester I took three classes, English, Advanced Reading, and Statistics. Knowing myself I thought that I was good in any mathematical subject because I liked maths, but this semester of taking a statistics course changed my mind. The reading course is practically the same to any other English subject I did in high school. In the first week two weeks of the semester I thought that I was doing well in my statistics class and my advanced reading class and not in my English class. This is so because I thought my grades were low but when midterm grades came out I realized that I was actually doing better in English class than the statistics and reading class. I never liked English. I had always dread the thought of having to write essays even though I knew it will play a major part in accomplishing my nursing major. Nevertheless, it was the techniques that I developed during this semester that has helped me to become better at thinking critically, to balance school and my personal time, and to not stress myself. This is my second semester of college. I started in spring semester 2017. Over the summer holiday I went through a painful breakup, and being away from my family and being alone, made it even worst. Although we got back together a couple weeks after, my head was still messed up and I was still hurting. I have been away from my family, who lives in Jamaica, from last year which had a major impact on my life Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Personal Experience: College Life College was very much a paradox for me. College was the most challenging experiences in my life, and yet one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my undergraduate years, I met new people, took exciting courses, and learned to live without the daily guidance of my parents. And most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on me. I began to fall apart. I worked two jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their own financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing with anxiety, and my confidence level dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends and family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a faГ§ade for the people around me as though everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that was always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going through a depressed time in my life, made me take a stand to make changes in my life. I knew I could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. I am a firm believer in the phrase, "if you see something in your life you do not like, then Get more content on HelpWriting.net
