Abortion has been a debate that has always been a sensitive subject that continues to divide
Americans in the United States. In our society there is a division of beliefs between pro–choice and
pro–life. Pro– choice advocates for women's rights ultimately to decide, for pro–life fundamentally is
totally against abortion, the fight for preserving all human life regardless of the saturations and
concerns. Substantially, abortion is a topic that has risen more controversial throughout the years,
even in politics it has been a debate for the nation, in the Republican and Democratic party. In my
point of view, abortion should always remain legal in the United States for women, neither the
government nor any law should decide and deny the right...show more content...
In these cases, an abortion is necessary to save the mother. What will happen if abortion was not
allowed and mother died, letting the baby live how will the father and family mourn the loss of
their love one. When in fact it could have been prevented by abortion. Unexpected outcomes can
arise at any stage during pregnancy, this why it's important abortion be legal. In fact, both lives can
be in great danger when there are complications. The Christian and Catholic Church have moderated
their views under these circumstances. In accordance to "The Christ Covenant Church of America"
article, today both religions, pastors and theologians allow mother to terminate the pregnancy to
preserve their own life. Religion permits in making this decision. In what the family decides honors

Denying a woman's right to have an abortion is taking away basic human rights. Abortion is a
method that should not be confined by government or religious jurisdiction as it provides a safe
means of closure for pregnant women. Taking away one's right to an abortion creates various unsafe
situations, such as pregnant women resorting to illegal or dangerous abortions that may be life
threatening (NARAL Pro–Choice America). With the ever growing decrease in the number of
abortion clinics in the United States, the number of violent attacks against abortion providers has
significantly grown. This is no coincidence, showing that action must be taken in order to fix this
ever–growing issue (ProCon.org).

Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in
America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately "53 million legal abortions were performed in the
United States" (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro–Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman's choice
and a protected personal right "that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority"
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro–Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very
moment of conception and thus an "abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being"
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides.
Pro Choice
Many contend that in attempting to delegalized abortions the government...show more content...
Pro–Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of
conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped from
the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org, 2015,
p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does "feel pain during the abortion procedure" because by eight weeks
the "most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed" (Procon.org, 2015, p.1).
Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased
depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). "A 2002 peer–reviewed study published by the
Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit
suicide than women who carried to term" (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe
women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant,
one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire
to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces "the number of adoptable babies" (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). Lastly, "abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable" and it is
acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015,

4. Arguments Against Abortion Essay
The debate on whether abortion should be legal, or illegal has become a controversial topic that has
divided the nation into two. The group of people who don't see anything wrong with the issue refer
to their group as pro–choice supporters. Their main belief about abortion is that because a woman's
body belongs to herself it should be up to her on whether she wants to keep a baby or not. Those
who are against abortion and feel it should be illegal think of themselves as pro–life supporters. They
believe that a fetus becomes human at conception making abortion murder. In other words, they feel
abortion is immoral and should be illegal. People shouldn't view abortion as killing a baby, it's much
more than that. Abortion is an option for...show more content...
Furthermore, when did someone's personal decision become open to the public to judge? Why
should what one woman do to her body be another woman's concern? Women have the right to their
own bodies and should have the choice to treat it how they please. If it's her body, it's her choice.
"Abortion is not a decision a woman comes to lightly, rather one of careful consideration and
extremely difficult thought. Women do not deserve to be punished and slammed with guilt and
humiliation for making a choice that should be entirely hers" (Kaleigh–Ann). Therefore, women
shouldn't be punished and crucified by society for what they feel is in best interest of their body and
health. Even if they were to take this choice away, you can't force them to see through a healthy
pregnancy. At the end of the day it is the woman who makes these choices that must live with them
and that shouldn't have to involve the opinions of the government or society.
In addition, abortions due to birth defects are common but are still difficult on the mother. When
a mother chooses to abort her baby because of birth defects is once she has searched for multiple
second opinions from various doctors and has considered her options and risks. "It will help later
to know you had the information verified by a specialist before proceeding" ("Considering
Abortion due to Birth Defects"). As stated above whether a woman gets an abortion is her choice
and is done after all options have been

The right to life is the most basic and important right that we have. In the past two hundred years,
over one million Americans have died for their country. Monuments have been built and speeches
have been delivered, honoring these American heroes. America is now engaged in a war where there
are no heroes, no monuments or tributes – only victims. Our society has declared war on its most
helpless members – our unborn children. Since that war was declared on January 22, 1973, there
have been over 35 million deaths.
Abortion is one of the most controversial and important subjects of this generation. Much has

I guess not, as long as you are in the womb according this argument. Those unwanted children who
have become criminals, while sad, certainly are not sentenced to death that easily and they still have
the possibility of changing their lives. Allowing abortion because of the mere possibility of
becoming a criminal would seem to mean it is permissible to use the death penalty for a lot more
than just murder if taken to its logical and frightening conclusions. Abortion for this reason just takes
us off the hook for showing love and concern to these unwanted children, but that would be more
time consuming and difficult and not always successful and, quite frankly, just not as convenient for
us.
Assume that the practice of drinking milk was widely considered immoral and that the evilness of
drinking milk was obvious to everyone, including children. What is the best way for a minority of
milk drinkers to get their behavior accepted by the majority? The milk drinkers know that they
cannot convince enough people to accept their position by direct argument alone. The only way to
get immoral behavior accepted would be to change the definition of commonly understood words.
For example, they might refer to milk as flavored water and to drink flavored water is not immoral.

In our society, everyone has their own opinion about everything. This topic just so happens to be
one of those. Abortion is a very touchy subject to some people. Some people are pro–choice, others
are pro–life. Some are caught in the middle. Some people think depending on the situation, it
should be okay. People base their opinions on their religion, race, culture, political views, and how
they were raised. I was raised pro–life depending on the situation. Pro–choice means it is the mother's
choice to get an abortion. Pro–life means they are completely against abortion. Is it a living person?
Should it be illegal? Is it okay depending on the situation? Everyone has a different opinion. Abortion
is the termination of a pregnancy. Abortions

7. An Argument Against Abortion Essay
Abortion in America is a controversial issue in which both sides have valid arguments at face value.
The pro–choice side has many arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of
these are faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to illustrate, thereby
eliminating the main pro–choice arguments. The pro–life position has somewhat different ideas. The
most popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of conception. Abortion
results in the intentional death of the unborn entity. Therefore, abortion can be defined the
intentional killing of a human being. This killing is in most cases unjustified, since the unborn
human being has a...show more content...
The reason this argument doesn't work is because it is begging the question. In fact, this lie hides
behind a good percentage of the popular arguments for the pro–choice position. One begs the
question when one assumes what one is trying to prove is correct. The question–begging of the
coat–hanger argument is very obvious: but only by assuming that the unborn are not fully human
does the argument work. If the unborn are not fully human, then the pro–choicer has a legitimate
concern, just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis operations if countless
people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and illegal operations. But if the unborn are fully
human, this pro–choice argument is the same as saying that because people die or are harmed
while killing other people, the state should make it safe for them to do so. Even some pro–choicers,
who argue for their position in other ways, admit that the coat hanger/back–alley argument is crap.
Although statistics cant establish a particular moral position, there has been arguments over both the
actual number of illegal abortions and the number of women who died as a result of them before
legalization. Prior to Roe vs Wade, pro–choicers used saying that nearly a million women every year
obtained illegal abortions performed

In this life, as an individual everyone single person has a choice. The constitution states that we
have plenty of rights. A major right, is the right to privacy. That being said, what we choose to do
with our lives, is our choice. Granted, everyone will have an opinion on anything you do in your
lifetime. People will judge you for what you do and even what you do not do. I say this to relate
back to abortion of babies. This is a huge controversy going on in the world, actually worldwide. As I
said before, we have a lot of rights for the United States as citizens. For example, the court case
about Roe and Wade talks about privacy. The constitution states that the right to privacy is a broad
enough aspect to encompass a woman's choice to either have an abortion or to keep the child. This
was stated on January 22 of 1973 during the Roe and Wade case. I believe that there is always a

No matter what you do in this world, someone will always be judging you or going against you.
This is happening a lot in this society. Women are being judged for aborting their babies. That
being said, there is a lot of circumstances that these women go through when making these
decisions. Think about if a women is raped by another man and wants to have an abortion. Would
the people that are against abortion think it is still wrong? Possibly. Yet, if you were that women
would you want to be raising a child that would remind you of that terrible memory? Instead of
rape, let's say that you are a women who is homeless and has intercorse with another male. That
women might not have enough money to support that child. One way she is unable to not provide
for that child would be money. No clothes, no school and possibly no food. This is when it would be
the better option to have an abortion instead of continuing to have that baby. Therefore, what if that
women is spending her money on something else, such as

One of the most divisive issues in the country, and the world, today is abortion. Many people believe
that women should have unrestricted access to abortions, but others think that it should either be
outlawed or that there should be more restrictions put in place. There are many issues with the latter
argument, such as it violates human rights, and it creates an ethical dilemma. That being said, there
should be less stringent laws in place, in regards to women's access to abortion. Abortion was not
always illegal before the ruling of Roe v. Wade. Before the nineteenth century, abortion was legal in
the United States and performed by midwives. Laws against abortion were only put in place, "to
protect women from the dangerous substances and techniques associated with the termination of a
pregnancy,"(Neumann). Although these laws were established, many pregnancies still ended in
abortion, and these abortions ultimately decreased the birth rates of white Protestants in relation to
those of other races. This led to a fear that white Protestants would soon be outnumbered by
minorities, giving the government more reason to implement stricter laws in regards to abortion.
Although the legislation had passed and abortion was outlawed in the United States, many women
still sought abortions illegally. Eventually, doctors began to give abortions in hospitals, and they
would review each case to see if the women were, what they considered to be, suitable for the
procedure. "Women began

Most people don't know the pros and cons of abortion? Abortion is what a female does for various
reasons, but many times for all the wrong reasons. There is multiple different ways females could go
to rather than to just choose the worst way. Even though some people think abortion is right at
certain times, abortion is wrong and surrogate should be used, because there is no reason to kill a
child that hasn't had the right to live yet. Abortion should never be the first option once getting
pregnant. Some people say they are against abortion, but would accept abortion if it was rape.
"Law & Order special victim unit" states that a women can't become pregnant after rape because
their body has a instinct to make their body reject the action and the eggs to be fertilized.(Law &

proven that the person had to of enjoyed some part of the sexual contact. People also get abortion for
ignorant reasons that should never be legal to do. Females use excuses how they aren't ready to have
a baby yet, but they use other excuses as in they don't want to ruin their body, or their relationships
with people close to them. Furthermore they get an abortion so they don't have to deal with it.
"Women always loth to talk about the more visceral elements of female reproductive physicality are
too ashamed, or unconfident in their reception, to discuss their terminations, even with friends or
partners. This brings about the curious circumstance that, while pretty much everyone must have
someone dear to them who has had an abortion, the chances of them actually discussing it with them
are remote. Most women don't tell friends family or their spouse about getting abortions
normally."(Caitlin, M, n/d .Therefore it is usually not nobody but the mother's decision to get the

There are different ways to abort a baby, medical, partial–birth and simple procedures during the
early weeks of pregnancy. In September, 2000, the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration approved the abortion drug to be marketed in the U.S. as an alternative to
surgical abortion. Also called mifepristone, medical abortions are administered within the first nine
weeks of pregnancy and stops the development of the baby and will help expel the pregnancy.
Women who agree to have a medical abortion must also agree to have a surgical abortion if the
mifepristone doesn?t work. About
37,000 medical abortions were performed in the first half of 2001, costing the ?mother? about $490.
Partial–birth abortion is performed in the second and third trimesters and entails inducing a breech
delivery with forceps, then delivering the legs, arms and torso only, and puncturing the back of the
skull with scissors or a trochar, next by inserting a suction curette into the skull, and suctioning the
contents of the skull so as to collapse it, and finally completing the delivery. A partial breech

In the movie "The Cider House Rules" we can notice the same situation. Only few children were

The issue with laws against abortion is that they are based on the individual's morality and religion,
but laws are not meant to appease one's conscious, they are meant to uphold the rights of man. Every
woman and man under the United States Constitution is granted civil liberties and when President
Trump delivered his Executive order, it breached people's civil liberties by denying them access to
healthcare. Whether abortion is morally correct, is up for debate, but a government should not be
able to ban or defund such means for a woman to uphold her own civil liberties. When any

Should women abort their children? It's not a question as to if they should or should not, because
it is happening. Despite whether an individual or the President thinks abortion is not okay, is
irrelevant. Abortion is a prevalent issue not because it's legal but because people chose to abort.
The government has no right to tell a woman whether or not to give birth, it abridges her civil
liberties as a free American citizen, yet that is exactly what denying access to abortion amounts to.
Sippel describes her opposition to the reinstatement of the "global gag rule" in her article, Silence
on Abortion Equals Death. There she reminds the reader that it is not solely an end of taxpayers
money going to abortion but it "pulls all global health assistance, including for programs that
address infectious diseases like malaria, Zika and Ebola"(Sippel). As well as ending international
funding, it restricts funding for clinics that provide contraceptives, pregnancy care, and sexual
education. Proven by statistics from various surveys on abortion, although the intention of this
Executive Order is to stop abortion, it does not; and while doing so, results in more casualties and
birth defects. Due to lack of funding for non–profit healthcare organizations, such as Planned
Parenthood, there is an increase in the risk of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and unsafe
abortions. Defunding abortion means "eliminat[ing] the clinics", clinics "which provide a host of
other vital services to poor women around the world"(Kuntzman). It's not the act of abortion that is

An Argument Against Abortion Abortion is a serious topic that people have been debating about

long as abortion remains legal, pro–life advocates will continue to protest what they believe to be
these horrible acts of murder. Dating all the way back to the 1800's, abortions have been taking
place all over the world. In the US abortion laws were created around 1820 stating that women

It has a genetic make up from the time of creation, therefore making it a living thing. It was
argued that the fetus was just a mass of tissue that wasn't really alive, but it has been proven that
it is indeed a human being. The concept fetus is used to denote the unborn human from the end of
the eighth week after conception to the moment of birth, as distinguished from the earlier embryo
(the product of conception from implantation in the uterus through the eighth week of
development). A fetus contains all the organs and has the basic human form. (Rand) So when we
take the life of a fetus, we are taking the life of another human being. Looking at abortion from a
religious viewpoint, abortion is a mortal sin. Taking the life of a human being is the greatest sin a
human can commit. If it is not acceptable to take the life of a 5 year old, an 18 year old, or a 50
year old, then why is it acceptable to take the life of a human who hasn't even had the chance to
live yet? The point is it shouldn't be. Taking a life, no matter what the age is, is morally wrong. An
unexpected pregnancy is no reason to abort the baby. If someone is mature enough to make the
decision to have sex, they should be mature enough to do it properly, and if they do not, they should
live with the consequences of their actions. The only way to totally prevent a pregnancy is to
practice total abstinence, which is the only birth control that is 100%. Practicing

This quote could be construed that Christian belief is against abortion. Abortion would deny a foetus

I believe that the quote has a valid opinion, but on the other hand, understand that people cannot

Currently there are many controversial issues in the world, but one of the most famous talked about
issues is abortion. There are always two sides to every argument and in this issue both sides have
very compelling points to their arguments. On the one hand, there is the prochoice movement in
which people believe women have the right to choose if they keep their fetus or not. Anti–abortion is
the other movement in which people believe the fetus has a right to live. Like many controversial
issues no one can say for sure that their argument is right and the other is wrong.

why would you believe it is murder and not her right to terminate the infant's life. According to

Abortion has been one of the many controversial topics being an issue in America, and it has been
in some parts of world today. People say that abortion is big business, meaning that today it can give
America lots of money for all the young girls getting pregnant and making them abort.
Teenpregnancy.org, a site managed by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned

pregnancies occur because either there was a rape, peer pressure, or because of television influence.

People against abortion say that the "fetus" is a baby and not a non–human. Dr. Randall says in
October's New Dimensions magazine that women are not aloud to view their ultrasounds
because they will see the heartbeat of the child and would change their minds on aborting. This
people don't see or don't hear, so they lack this information. When the woman is pregnant and
wants to get rid of, she is thinking of what she did, and how to solve it. Abortion looks like it is
the answer to this problem she got into, but she does not see that she has life in her womb. A
doctor at KMC in Bakersfield, Dr. Mark Amin says that at 7 days of pregnancy the blood of the
mother flows into the so called fetus and starts to make it function. The blood starts to circulate in
the fetus and out to the mother and so

19. Anti Abortion Essay
Since the Darwinian Revolution of the 19th century our society has turned upside down.
Everything under the sun had become questionable, the origin of life, how we came to be, where
are we headed and what to do in the here all became questions in life. But one of the greatest
impacts of this new age thinking is its effect on our Old World values.Western societies values,
morals and ethics became debatable, with some people striving for change and others clinging for
stability. Battle lines had been drawn and the Liberals and Conservatives were ready to duke it out
on a number of issues. One of these debates centers on a woman?s right to have and abortion.
According to the Webster?s dictionary and abortion is defined as a miscarry,...show more content...
The Biblical understanding of life isn?t the only religious argument that opposes abortion and its
practice. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and many other world faiths have a similar stance on the topic
at hand. Hinduism claims that the soul enters the embryo at the time of conception and abortion
should hence be outlawed except in the case of rape or incest. Buddhism takes a similar stance and
claims abortion is ?murdering?, yet also states that each case should be individually analyzed. Islam
considers abortion as a moral crime and sees life (its start finish) as the jurisdiction of God. Islamic
law states that abortion is illegal except in those situations in which the woman?s life is in jeopardy.
The question that arises after examining these numerous perspectives is how can these practices
which violate or threaten our fundamental beliefs be tolerated? The critics of the ant–abortion
perspective, ?pro–choice?, have arguments of their own. First and foremost they argue that biblical
law and its perspectives are codes of life for believers and in a pluralistic society this view shouldn?t
be a reference or a deciding factor. One could imagine how it would be to have another foreign view
imposed on us so why would anyone impose their views on others or the society at large? Other
pro–choice arguments have went to claim that abortion isn?t immoral because morality is subjective
hence people decide on their own what is

20. Against Abortion Persuasive Essay
All around the world, babies are being born every several minutes, yet numerous people are also
becoming homeless every several minutes, occasionally it is the newborn babies. Lately, various
amounts of children have had their own children too, as a result of it not being illegal to have a
child until you're 18 or older. Thus, they've been needing extra homes or orphanages for the people
who can't provide for those kids. This is due to people saying it's their own fault they're pregnant,
and that they need to either keep the child or hand it over to adoption. Although people dislike
abortion as a result of people saying they would be ending a life... these people clearly haven't
researched enough on how deranged a child in an orphanage can become....show more content...
To put it simply, generally no one is going to say yes, I wish I had been aborted, but a woman who
is too young to carry for her child or is not prepared for pregnancy and responsibilities such as having
a child should be able to have an abortion. Another opinion that's thrown around is that it's the
woman's body, therefore it's the woman's choice what she wants to do with the baby. Science states
that,"...abortions are performed within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. During this time there is no
scientific doubt that the developing fetus is incapable of any form of conscious awareness. The fetal
brain does not begin to develop until 3–4 weeks into the pregnancy... Between weeks 4 and 8 this
neural tissue grows, forming the major divisions of the adult brain... By the end of the first trimester
(12 weeks) nerve cells are beginning to form rudimentary connections between different areas of the
brain. However, these connections are sparse and incapable of performing the same functions as an
adult brain...although the fetus is certainly starting to look like a little human, the neural circuits
responsible for conscious awareness are yet to develop." This shows that yes, although it may be a
life, it cannot feel anything yet, therefore it wouldn't feel pain during an
