 I choose a hearing disability and being deaf
 This can happen in the world everyday and am
interested on how to work with a student with this
disability
 I have learned a bit about it and am interested how
to teach this student

would be helpful
 I wanted to look into cochlear implants.
 They help the deaf and hearing aids are what help
those who are hard of hearing

 Cochlear implant/hearing aid
 Used for deaf/hard of hearing disabled people
 I choose this because it can happen everyday in life
and makes a big effect
 Also it can vary on how students with this disability
learn in school and if they become well educated or
not.

software does
 It is a device that provides direct electrical
stimulation to the auditory nerve in the inner ear.
 It helps those who are deaf hear what people are
saying
 It doesn’t guarentee 100% understandment of
speech but helps it be a bit clearer
 Hearing aids do this for those who are hard of
hearing

6. How you, as a teacher, could learn about how
to use this tool ( if you can find a tutorial about
it,please put a link to the tutorial)
 You definitely need to learn that the cochlear implant
doesn’t fix the deaf person’s hearing
 Doesn’t restore or cure hearing
 Allows for the perception of the sensation of sound
 You would learn the outcomes of the cochlear
implants.
 They are normally best for children rather than
adults

where to get it, and the cost
 Centers around the country
 It is a process to get one and they are expensive
 You have to go through testing and such to
determine if person is suitable candidate for surgery.
 Cost exceeds $40,000
 Insurance covers have improved greatly over years

8. How you would use it as a teacher in
your classroom or in your future
career
 More so how I would use that the student has a
cochlear implant in my classroom
 I would know that the student can hear me 100%
 Make my speaking more clear and defined
 Still have worksheet with info written down
 Also I would make sure to have revised or fixed
lessons for the student who has the disability
