10. SINULOG FESTIVAL
Is a dance ritual in honor of the
miraculous image of Santo Nino.
One of the greatest and most colorful
festival in the Philippine and definitely a great
way to start a new year.
11. ATI ATIHAN FESTIVAL
Ati Atihan Festival is the Santo Niño (or the
Holy Child Jesus) which is highly venerated in
this Catholic country.
When the Spaniards came to the Philippines to
convert the natives to Catholicism, they
performed the native Ati Atihan
Today, the tribal festivity also has its own
religious aspect, and some devotees carry
images of the Holy Child and dance their
petitions to God for the success of their
children and their business.
12. MASSKARA FESTIVAL
Masskara Festival is the
annual celebration in the city
of Bacolod in Negros Island in
the Philippines. The city holds
this festival every October for
the past 30 years and is now
no doubt one of the most
attended festival in the
country.
13. The word "masskara" means "mask"
and this explains the festival's distinct
characteristic - dancers wearing
smiling masks adorned with beads
and other ornaments. Philippine
festivals would be nothing if it doesn't
involve street dancing and partying
and the festival's highlight is its street
dancing that happens on a weekend
closest to October 19 which is the
city's foundation day
