Sources of waste water  Domestic Activities: The waste water generated from our houses e.g. water used for bathing Agricultural: Wastewater generated from farms containing harmful pesticides and chemicals Industries: The waste water generated from various industries (paint and dye) containing harmful chemicals like chromium and lead. © deepanshu tuli ® Gurukul Global School
Eutrophication It is an excessive  growth or “blooms” of algae in lakes rich in nutrition  such as phosphates, is called eutrophication . Normally it takes thousands of years to progress but human activities  have enhanced this process greatly  © deepanshu tuli ® Gurukul Global School
 Municipal Water Have you ever wondered where does all the waste water goes from our toilets and sinks ??? Each time we flush up our toilets or wash something, water containing faeces paper , cloth , soap , food scraps etc. goes down the drain . This water gets accumilated and forms sewage . In large cities it is known as Municipal Water © deepanshu tuli ® Gurukul Global School
Fact File  Do you know why manhole covers are round??? This is to avoid accidents. Since man holes covers are round they do not fall down when somebody stands on them. If they were square or rectangular , they could have fallen down. What is BOD ??? BOD stands for Biochemical Oxygen Demand.
