10. The industrial inventor of multiphase metering
Roxar started the development of multiphase metering technology
in 1984 and can celebrate 25 years of innovation!
11. From 1st to 3rd Generation
The first generation of multiphase meters:
Assumed homogenous flow conditions
Incorporated models based on a single
flow velocity
The second generation of multiphase
meters:
Dual cross correlation (individual Liquid
and Gas velocity measurements)
Sophisticated signal processing
The dual velocity model is a well suited
model, but still a simplification of very
complex flow patterns

29. Specifications
Qualification testing
The Roxar Multiphase meter 2600 has
been extensively tested, both statically and
dynamically, including:
- Pressure and temperature cycling
- Calibration and sensitivity testing
- Flow testing
The loop testing has demonstrated
superior performance for measurement of all
three phases
As a result, the operating envelope has
been widened, and uncertainty is reduced
30. Flow loop performance testing
December 2008 -“Measurement accuracy appears consistent June / July 2009
across water and oil continuous regimes”
-“Overall excellent performance of the meter”
-“In a comparison against the manufacturer’s
performance specification, all of the meters
individual measurements were within the
current published uncertainty specification”
- “The meter performed extremely well on
liquid flow, gas flow and liquid water cut”
47. Wet gas sensitivity – TUV NEL
•The permittivity of the wet gas was measured using the MPFM 2600
•The TUV NEL loop was operated on condensate with no water
• It is possible to calculate the expected sensitivity to a change in water
fraction based on the sensitivity in the permittivity measurements
• A change in GVF from 99.55% to 99.79% could easily be measured,
resulting in a change in permittivity of -0.00265 abs
• This corresponds to a water fraction sensitivity of +/-0.018% abs
48. New Performance Specification
Improved uncertainty
specification for all three
phases
Uncertainty specification for
both Multiphase and Wetgas
mode
0-100 % GVF and 0-100 %
WLR
Same specification for both
oil and water continues flow
