2. My chosen Genre
• I chose to do the comedy genre because this is my favourite type of movie. I like
comedies so much just at the fact that they make you laugh so much, furthermore i
chose comedies as my favourite genre because I prefer to laugh at comedies than
watch a jumpy horror movie that puts me on edge for 2 hours.
• Depending on who is the main actor depends on if I would watch the film, for
example I am much more likely to watch a film with Will Ferrell or Seth Rogan as the
main protagonist, than someone who I have not heard of.
• Furthermore most comedies these days are aimed at people of the ages of 15 - 30, so
directors use sex, drugs and alcohol as a comedy talking point as most people in our
days can relate to this.
3. Intertexuality
• Intertexuality is when one movie is influenced by enough movie. For
example the clothes that Han solo wears in Star Wars is greatly influenced
by the old western movie ‘High Noon’. Gary Cooper who plays William
Kane in the movie wears a white shirt with a black vest with a gun in a
holster by the side of him. Han solo wears the same clothing as him as seen
in Star Wars. George Lucas who is the director of Star Wars was a huge fan
of westerns, and was reportedly saying that he wanted to create a cowboy
western in space.
4. Intertexuality in Breaking Bad and
Godzilla
• In Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston plays Walter White who is a chemistry teacher
who starts cooking Chrystal meth and selling it to help his family pay for his
Chemotherapy he is having. When he is making the meth they wear a gas mask
which is very icon to the TV series. So for Bryan Cranston to wear a very similar
gas mask in the new Godzilla is no coincidence, they have used intertexuality
here because they know fans of Breaking Bad are going to watch the new
Godzilla either because they like this movie or they are watching it because of
the star theory, so they will be able to make the link between the two.

5. Step Brothers
The director of Step Brothers is an American director Adam
McKay, who has directed other smash hit comedies such as
Anchorman and The Other Guys. Step Brothers was realised in
2008 making a huge $181,807,642.
The film is about two 40 year old men Brennan and Dale played
by Will Farrell and John.C.Reily who still live with there parents
and are self centred with no jobs. When Brennan’s mum and
Dales dad get married they are both forced to live with each
other.
Start theory plays a main point in if I would watch a movie or not.
The main reason I first watched this film was because of Will
Ferrell, he is one of my favourite actors and I try to watch
everything he is in as I find him so funny.
6. Happy Gilmore
• Happy Gilmore is a sports comedy film that was made in
1996 by Dennis Dugan. Dennis and Adam Sandler have
worked in a lot of movies together over the years. For
example Dennis has directed movies such as Grown ups,
Grown ups 2, Big Daddy and Just go with it. The film grossed
a huge $41,205,099 at the box office.
• The film is about Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) who is a
keen ice hockey player, and when he finds out he is not good
enough to be on the state hockey team he turns to golf where
there is a big compotation to earn a big lump of money and if
he wins he will use the money to help his gran out with
paying the bank all her tax's as she has not paid them in 30
years.
• Again with this movie I first watched this film because of I
knew Adam Sandler is init so it relates back to star theory
like I was talking about in the previous slide.
7. Ted
• Ted is a new movie that was released in 2012 by Family Guy
creator Seth Macfarlane. The movie was directed by Macfarlane
who also co stars init. The movie earned a huge $549,368,315 at
the box office.
• The movie is about John (Mark Wahlberg) who gets a teddy bear
for Christmas one time when he was a child, and then one night it
comes to life. So the rest of the movie is about ted and john
partying.
