SEACARE is a mobile app and server system that aims to gather evidence of illegal fishing activities. It works by using a mobile app that allows users to report suspected illegal fishing using location services, maps, and notifications. The server integrates real-time ship location data from AIS with reported data from app users to identify, georeference, and publish suspected illegal fishing incidents via Sentinel-1 satellite imagery. The presenters seek to complete a minimum viable product, allocate hardware resources, and study monetization options to put the app on the market for combating the large problem of illegal, unreported, and undeclared fishing.
