WHAT IS TOLL PLAZA AND WHY WE CHOSEN KM24?
A toll road, also known as a turnpike or toll way, is a public or private roadway for which a fee is assessed for
passage. It is a form of road pricing typically implemented to help recuperate the cost of road construction and
maintenance, which (on public roads) amounts to a form of taxation.
Toll roads in some form have existed since antiquity, collecting their fees from passing travelers on foot, wagon
or horseback; but their prominence increased with the rise of the automobile, and modern toll ways collect
their fees from motor vehicles exclusively. The amount of the toll usually varies by vehicle type, weight, or
number of axles, with freight trucks often charged higher rates than cars. One of the criticisms of toll roads is
the additional time they take to stop and pay for the tolls and the additional cost of paying for all the toll booth
operators—up to about one-third of revenue in some cases. Automated toll paying systems help minimize the
time lost for collecting tolls and the cost of toll collection operations. Others object to paying "twice" for the
same road: in fuel taxes and with tolls.
One of the most prominent projects planned on private sector participation on BOT basis, the 27.7 kms Delhi-
Gurgaon Expressway is a 6 to 8-lane expressway built on NH-8. Serving as a lifeline for commuters between
Delhi and Gurgaon, and to the domestic and international airports, it is one of the busiest corridors in the
country and provides access to over 1 million commuters every day. The 36-lane toll plaza at KM 24 is the
largest toll plaza in South Asia and the second largest in the Asia. It is India's first state-of-the-art urban
expressway comparable to any global expressway project in terms of tolling technology, construction quality,
commuter safety and convenience. The unique lighting system used on the expressway is the first of its kind in
India. That's why we chosen KM24 toll plaza.

• CLIMATE ANALYSIS
THE CLIMATE OF DELHI IS A MONSOON-INFLUENCED HUMID SUBTROPICAL WITH HIGH
VARIATION BETWEEN SUMMER AND WINTER TEMPERATURES AND PRECIPITATION. DELHI'S
VERSION OF A HUMID SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE IS MARKEDLY DIFFERENT FROM MANY OTHER
HUMID SUBTROPICAL CITIES SUCH AS SAO PAULO, TOKYO AND BRISBANE IN THAT THE CITY
FEATURES DUST STORMS (SOMETHING MORE COMMONLY SEEN IN A DESERT CLIMATE), HAS
RELATIVELY DRY WINTERS AND HAS A PROLONGED SPELL OF VERY HOT WEATHER.

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES CONCLUSION
• Time saving with high level of service, including shorter
travelling distances and electronic toll collections.
• Lower travelling cost resulting from a better travelling road-a
quality in terms of capacity and riding surface that is
guaranteed for the full twenty year of concession.
• Upgraded facilities kept in good order compline with the
highest maintenance standards.
• This project features largest single toll plaza in south Asia.
• Good utilization of resources.
• 800 to 1000 cars can be processed by smart tag lane in 1 hour.
• Safety for all the road users with the implementation of and
extensive corridor control services with extensive
infrastructure and communication networks to mobilize
emergency services in reaction to accident and other
dangerous situations.
• All the provincial and local emergency services including SOS,
traffic department, ambulance and emergency medical
services and fire departments from part of this system.
• Smart tags or electronic tolling collection is a first for its kind in
NCR.
• SOS pillars can be used to contact our control center during
emergencies .
• Improved on seen coordination.
• The aesthetic perception for highway user is very bad
indeed which conjures up images of choked Hero Honda
road with overflowing drain water, poor service roads,
narrow entries and exists, poor landscaping and toll plaza
lanes welcoming commuters with choked lanes and driver
crossing the lanes.
• This highway in the National Capital Region of India is far
from creating an impression on any visitor from abroad who
touches it when he enters the city and suburbs.
• It is a far away from the natural landscape and aesthetic
quality which we can see internationally in all highways.
Concessionaire was given the design with which he has to
construct and operate now.
• The toll plaza at the Delhi-Gurgaon border has also proved
inadequate in handling the increasing traffic, leading to
traffic jams during peak hours.
Overall it is a good toll plaza with great elevation designed for
rainwater harvesting.

Toll roads in some form have existed since antiquity, collecting their fees from passing travelers on foot, wagon or horseback; but their prominence increased with the rise of the automobile, and modern toll ways collect their fees from motor vehicles exclusively. The amount of the toll usually varies by vehicle type, weight, or number of axles, with freight trucks often charged higher rates than cars. One of the criticisms of toll roads is the additional time they take to stop and pay for the tolls and the additional cost of paying for all the toll booth operators—up to about one-third of revenue in some cases. Automated toll paying systems help minimize the time lost for collecting tolls and the cost of toll collection operations. Others object to paying "twice" for the same road: in fuel taxes and with tolls. One of the most prominent projects planned on private sector participation on BOT basis, the 27.7 kms Delhi- Gurgaon Expressway is a 6 to 8-lane expressway built on NH-8. Serving as a lifeline for commuters between Delhi and Gurgaon, and to the domestic and international airports, it is one of the busiest corridors in the country and provides access to over 1 million commuters every day. The 36-lane toll plaza at KM 24 is the largest toll plaza in South Asia and the second largest in the Asia. It is India's first state-of-the-art urban expressway comparable to any global expressway project in terms of tolling technology, construction quality, commuter safety and convenience. The unique lighting system used on the expressway is the first of its kind in India. That's why we chosen KM24 toll plaza.

DELHI'S VERSION OF A HUMID SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE IS MARKEDLY DIFFERENT FROM MANY OTHER HUMID SUBTROPICAL CITIES SUCH AS SAO PAULO, TOKYO AND BRISBANE IN THAT THE CITY FEATURES DUST STORMS (SOMETHING MORE COMMONLY SEEN IN A DESERT CLIMATE), HAS RELATIVELY DRY WINTERS AND HAS A PROLONGED SPELL OF VERY HOT WEATHER. Gaurav Agarwal Signature And Seal: DELHI-GURGAON (KM-24) TOLL PLAZA ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES CONCLUSION • Time saving with high level of service, including shorter travelling distances and electronic toll collections. • Lower travelling cost resulting from a better travelling road-a quality in terms of capacity and riding surface that is guaranteed for the full twenty year of concession. • Upgraded facilities kept in good order compline with the highest maintenance standards. • This project features largest single toll plaza in south Asia. • Good utilization of resources. • 800 to 1000 cars can be processed by smart tag lane in 1 hour. • Safety for all the road users with the implementation of and extensive corridor control services with extensive infrastructure and communication networks to mobilize emergency services in reaction to accident and other dangerous situations. • All the provincial and local emergency services including SOS, traffic department, ambulance and emergency medical services and fire departments from part of this system. • Smart tags or electronic tolling collection is a first for its kind in NCR. • SOS pillars can be used to contact our control center during emergencies . • Improved on seen coordination. • The aesthetic perception for highway user is very bad indeed which conjures up images of choked Hero Honda road with overflowing drain water, poor service roads, narrow entries and exists, poor landscaping and toll plaza lanes welcoming commuters with choked lanes and driver crossing the lanes. • This highway in the National Capital Region of India is far from creating an impression on any visitor from abroad who touches it when he enters the city and suburbs. • It is a far away from the natural landscape and aesthetic quality which we can see internationally in all highways. Concessionaire was given the design with which he has to construct and operate now. • The toll plaza at the Delhi-Gurgaon border has also proved inadequate in handling the increasing traffic, leading to traffic jams during peak hours. Overall it is a good toll plaza with great elevation designed for rainwater harvesting.
