A renewable resource is a natural
resource which can replenish with the
passage of time and for ex-Solar
energy, Wind Energy etc.
ADVANTAGES:
1.They require less maintenance .
2.They don’t produce harmful products
such as Carbon dioxide or other pollutants.
3.They are economically beneficial.
• The Philippine government sees the growth of
the renewable energy sector essential for
national energy security.
• The Philippines could be considered a world
leader in renewable energy, with its 30 percent
of its power generation by the renewable
energy sector.
The most common one of the resources in
Philippines is solar energy.
Its geographical position is just over equator due to
which a large amount of solar power can be gathered.
It was the first south-east Asian sector to invest on
large scale on solar energy.
Country’s average solar radiation, based on
sunshine duration, is 161.7 watts per square meter.
Wind power in the Philippines makes up a small
percentage of the total energy.
 In Philippines the never ending wind is
continuously changed into wind energy.
 Potential sites for wind power are in Batanes,
Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Mindoro, Samar,
Leyte are suitable for wind energy.
Philippines is far most important country for hydro
power.
Nearly 13 dams are constructed for the generation
of hydro power.
. Almost all of the large hydro electric plants
produce 50MW energy.
In Philippines Biomass almost accounts 15% of the
total energy used in the country.
The country has abundant supplies of biomass
resources, offering much potential for clean energy
generation.
The resources available in the Philippines can
generate biomass projects with a potential capacity
of more than 200 MW.
