 Water is a transparent fluid which forms the world's
streams, lakes, oceans and rain, and is the major
constituent of the fluids of living things. As a chemical
compound ,a water molecule contains one oxygen and
two hydrogen atoms that are connected by covalent
bond.

WATER CYCLE
The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle or
the H2O cycle, describes the continuous movement of
water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The
mass of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time
but the partitioning of the water into the major
reservoirs of ice, fresh water, saline water is variable.
WATER FOOTPRINT
 A water footprint is basically the total amount of water a
country or a nation or a particular area or a particular
human being uses.
 Water use is measured in water volume consumed
(evaporated) and/or polluted per unit of time.
Within the water footprint concept, Water Footprint Network
splits water footprints into three corresponding elements:
1. Blue water footprint
2. Green water footprint
3. Grey water footprint

WATER FOOTPRINT OF THE PRODUCTS
INVENTION OF WATER FOOTPRINT
 The water footprint concept was introduced in 2002 by
Arjen Y. Hoekstra fromUNESCO-IHE as an alternative
indicator of water use.The concept was refined and
accounting methods were established with a series of
publications from two lead authors A.K. Chapagain and
A.Y. Hoekstra.
FACTS OF WATER
 Roughly 70 percent of an adult’s body is made up
of water.
 At birth, water accounts for approximately 80
percent of an infant’s body weight.
 A healthy person can drink about three gallons (48
cups) of water per day.
 82% of those who lack access to improved water
live in rural areas, while just 18% live in urban
areas.
WAYS TO REDUCE WATER FOOTPRINT
 Broadly speaking, you can reduce your direct water
footprint by:
 installing water saving toilets;
 applying a water-saving showerhead;
 turning off the tap while brushing your teeth;
 using less water in the garden; and
 by not disposing medicines, paints or other pollutants
through the sink.

  • 4.  Water is a transparent fluid which forms the world's streams, lakes, oceans and rain, and is the major constituent of the fluids of living things. As a chemical compound ,a water molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms that are connected by covalent bond.

  • 6. WATER CYCLE The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle or the H2O cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The mass of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time but the partitioning of the water into the major reservoirs of ice, fresh water, saline water is variable.
  • 7. WATER FOOTPRINT  A water footprint is basically the total amount of water a country or a nation or a particular area or a particular human being uses.  Water use is measured in water volume consumed (evaporated) and/or polluted per unit of time.

  • 10. INVENTION OF WATER FOOTPRINT  The water footprint concept was introduced in 2002 by Arjen Y. Hoekstra fromUNESCO-IHE as an alternative indicator of water use.The concept was refined and accounting methods were established with a series of publications from two lead authors A.K. Chapagain and A.Y. Hoekstra.

FACTS OF WATER  Roughly 70 percent of an adult’s body is made up of water.  At birth, water accounts for approximately 80 percent of an infant’s body weight.  A healthy person can drink about three gallons (48 cups) of water per day.  82% of those who lack access to improved water live in rural areas, while just 18% live in urban areas.
  • 12. WAYS TO REDUCE WATER FOOTPRINT  Broadly speaking, you can reduce your direct water footprint by:  installing water saving toilets;  applying a water-saving showerhead;  turning off the tap while brushing your teeth;  using less water in the garden; and  by not disposing medicines, paints or other pollutants through the sink.
