does the content the source apply directly to the topic
of your paper? remember as you proceed with your
research, what seemed irrelevant a while ago is now

3. a source should be authoritative
does the author have enough expertise to be speaking
authoritatively about the subject of your paper? has the
work been reviewed by a group of other experts?

4. a source must be current
sometime historical sources are an invaluable resource,
but if you’re researching the latest marketing
strategies, be sure that your sources are current.

5. a source should be comprehensive
does this source cover all of the major issues you need
to discuss in the paper? Start with a detailed, overview
resource first and then get more specific.

6. a source should be stable
If you read a resource will it still be accessible later?
What you stumble across today online, might not be
there tomorrow....

7. a source should be provide links
does this source help you locate other sources? The best
sources lead to others, through citations or web links.
These help you broaden and deepen your search.
