5. This font is sans serif, which gives it a childish feel. Although the magazine is aimed at a youngish target audience, the target range isn’t lower than 17. This font looks like it has been hand-drawn which I like but it is too thin, which means it won’t be highly visible and won’t draw the eye of the readers. This font offers a retro feel which links into the rock ‘n’ roll era of music mainly from the states. Although Boogaloo features some retro US music, is doesn’t focus enough on this genre to be integrated into the masthead font, nor the front cover as a whole. This particular font gives off a more sophisticated feel, being a serif font. As sophistication is a feature of my magazine, I believe this font is more suited. Thus, the font I use for my masthead will be this or a similar font. BOOGALOO

6. Photoshop Techniques

7. Gaussian Blur This Photoshop tool blurs the image which smoothes out sharp edges and reduces image detail. In magazines this technique is often used to blur a background of an image and focus on a particular object e.g. model or product. This focuses the reader’s attention to the chosen object to show its importance.

8. History Brush Another technique used is the history brush. This tool highlights a particular part of an image (for the same reasons as the gaussian blur) by turning particular parts of an image black & white and focus on areas in colour.
