Info âTalk
12th August, â09
The success as well as the failures of the previous term, brought to us, more sense of
responsibility to live up to the expectations of the KGPians, but most importantly, to
compensate for our past mistakes. An efficient recruitment process hence became our
priority. The August Recruitment Drive started with the event Info Talk, held on 12th August'
09, with a view to give an introductory talk on AIESEC and its functioning in Kharagpur.
Hosted by Aproop and
Ninoto, Vice President
Traineeship Nominee and
Vice President Outgoing
Exchange, and sponsored by
Roads, this event turned out to
be a huge success with a turn
up of 140 students!!
Comprising mainly of 1st and
2nd yr students,the 2 hour
event included briefing the
audience with AIESEC, as a
global organisation, its role,
values and the organisational
structure of AIESEC IIT
Kharagpur. The target was to
explain the recruitment process and the job roles of the members and hence create an urge in
the students to join AIESEC IIT Kharagpur. The audience got an opportunity to interact with
2 of our EPs. This was followed by description of the internships opportunities available this
year and an open to all query round. Selling of the membership application forms marked the
end. The impact that the event had on the students is very well reflected from the fact that 96
forms got sold out of 100, while we still had interested students waiting in queue!!

OGX Seminar
17th August, â09
Every year AIESEC provides around 5500 students the unforgettable experience to work and
live in a foreign country. This will mean that every one and a half hour there would be an
excited youth boarding a plane to go for his/her AIESEC internship in over 107 countries that
AIESEC has affiliations with. These students would be going for international internships
in various management,
technical, educational and
developmental fields to work
with people from various
countries.
This year AIESEC IIT
Kharagpur sent six students
for the AIESEC experience.
Ninoto Zhimomi, our VP-
OCX went to Debrecen,
Hungary to work in four
schools in two different cities.
Nitin Babel, one of our
Exchange Participant went to
Ukraine to work in World
Without Borders where he
discussed on Global topics and talked about Indian culture to various interns from Turkey,
China and many other countries. Ankur Singhal went to work in financial firm in Switzerland
where he worked in a lot of number crunching in a savvy office. Saahil Parekh and Shaily
Jaisinghani went to Ivory Coast and Shanghai respectively to work in AIDS awareness and
teach HIV positive people. Vishu gupta went to Taiwan where he taught English to
Taiwanese students.
To send more such interested students during the vacations so that they do something
worthwhile during the holidays, an OGX seminar was held by Ninoto Zhimomi to make the
interested students more aware about the procedure and the various internships that AIESEC
provides. An active participation from the students ended the seminar with a roaring success.

Local Training Seminar
29th August, 2009,
Fore Math:
AIESEC IITKgp organized the Local Training Seminar for introduction of the new
recruits into the society and to give them
the idea about the functioning, aspirations
and future plans of the society. The
seminar was organized by Shubhanshu
Mishra as its Organizing Committee
President and had two of the AIESEC
Alumni Aditya Raut and Naru as its
chairpersons. The seminar was attended
by the Executive Body comprised of Local
Committee President Sugam Agarwal and
the Vice-Presidents of various
departments, and all the members of
AISEC. The event commenced at around
2 o'clock with a brief introduction between
the older and the newer recruits followed
by a presentation about AIESEC Worldwide and then moving on to that how
AIESEC-IITKgp fitted into the hierarchy. During whole of seminar the recruits were
briefed about the structure of the AIESEC and the working of various departments and
how they functioned and
collaborated with each other and
the Vice-Presidents of various
departments gave introductions
about their respective
departments. The event was very
enjoyable as besides the serious
matters discussed the event was
marked with a lot of activities like
the description of oneself by
everyone by an adjective
beginning with the initial of his or
her name, the Ice-breaker in which one was asked to tell a thing about the person to
his left that he disliked and one thing about the person to his right that he liked, the
new recruits were asked to enact AIESEC logo and the SWOT analysis of AIESEC
IITKgp. The seminar was concluded at around 7 o'clock in the evening by the closing
note given by the chairpersons Raut and Naru.

After Math:
After the seminar, all the members were taken for dinner to Sibani restaurant located
at about a 20 minutes drive from the campus. Four vehicles were used for transport.
At Sibani we were joined by the AIESEC alumni and the evening started with
everyone introducing oneself by telling his name followed by a truth and a lie about
himself. It turned to be very pleasurable as people turned up with very candid truths
and sporty lies about themselves. This was followed by âSkollingâ a game which is
very close to soft
drink drinking race
between the older
members against
the new recruits and
the executive body
against the alumni.
The snacks were
served and
everyone now sat
down around the
table for the most
awaited event of the
evening âScrew the
seniorsâ. In this
everyone especially
the new recruits got
an opportunity to interact with their seniors and ask them any questions whether
relevant or not. This turned out to be very interesting as well as useful as besides
being entertaining this helped in the induction of the newer members in the society.
Everyone answered their questions very sportingly and came out with the most
enjoyable way. This gave way to dance and after that the dinner was served and
people got a chance to interact among themselves and got to know each other better.
The evening ended on a happy note and everyone returned looking forward to
wonderful term ahead.
