2. Definition
Stability refers to the ability of a ship to right itself from a heeled position. A floating or submerged body is
said to be stable at its position, if it returns to that position following a small disturbance.
3. Centre Of Buoyancy And Stability
Center of gravity refers to the
mean location of the
gravitational force acting on a
body.
The Buoyancy Force act
through the Centre of Gravity
of the Displaced Fluid and is
called The Centre of Buoyancy
Hello everybody my name is …. Nd my group mates are…. Our presentation is about stability and we will about the stability of the floating objects. We also have a video on this that we will show u later.
So what is the stability of the floating object.. Then the definition
When a ship floats on water 2 forces act on it.. First its weight that acts downward at the centre of the gravity and an upward buoyancy force passing though the centroid of the body. For the ship to be in stability these both forces should be equal and centre of gravity and centroid should lies on the same line.
Just read the slides.
???????
When a ship is displaced angularly say in the rightward direction then volume displaced is in the right side and its centre of the Buoyancy shifts to the right side say here, in this case the point of intersection of the vertical line through B’ and BG is called metacenter and its displacement from the G is called metacentric height.
