The University of Vic (UVic) is a young
university, officially recognised by the
Parliament of Catalonia in May 1997
From its very beginnings UVic has promoted
academic quality and a humane context for
student-centred training.
Their teaching programmes offer quality and
contact with students, as required for the
European Higher Education Area.
The University also feels a strong commitment
to Catalonia – its university system and the
language and culture – and regional
development.

Communication Studies began
in 2005
Studies focused on new media
practices and interactive projects
Around twenty subjects related
to multimedia (an expertise in
new media that no other Spanish
Universities have offered ever)

Experimental and pioneer experience promoted by the Business and
Communication College at the University of Vic pretends to go one step
further joining teachers, students and post-graduated students with the
intention of producing multimedia and interactive prototypes, theoretical
research and creative synergies in the digital field.
CONCEPT
The idea is to create, through the existing infrastructure of teachers and students,
an innovative experience that involves multimedia teachers and students to offer
assistance and expertise in specific areas of the interactive communication.

MAIN OBJECTIVES
We believe in an integral vision of the communication process, including the different
actors involved
The goal is to create an "own label" on Interactive Digital Communication and the
Multimedia area in general that involve the different Colleges of the University of Vic.
This new media lab could respond to a triple need:
- Provide support to students and groups who decide to produce an interactive project
to some extent related to the studies of the Business and Communication College
at the University of Vic.
- Create a forum for discussion between teachers, students, alumni and professionals
with the corresponding resulting synergies
- Provide visibility to former and current projects of the students, as currently do not
have any specific channel for the dissemination and promotion. This could lead,
at best, to provide jobs for newly graduated students.

Laboratory at the University of Vic
Another important aim of the digital lab is to concentrate and consolidate
almost a decade of multimedia and interactive production developed
mainly at the Polytechnic and Communication Colleges.
There has been an important volume of interactive works that remain
unseen with no visibility or service. The Lab aims to regroup all these
“forgotten projects” and reactivate some of them.
