2. Redesigning a
Video Game UI
For this assignment, I had to
redesign the UI for the game
Mass Effect.
I had very limited knowledge
about the game going into this
assignment, so I researched it’s
current design, and asked
players of the game what they
did and didn’t like about it.
I also redesigned the icons into
more interesting shapes, and
made plans to edit the color
scheme.
3. Redesigning a Video Game UI
I created 4 rendered out versions of what the icons for the new Mass Effect UI could look, using Adobe Illustrator.
4. Redesigning
Video Game
Weapons
For this assignment I redesigned
some weapons for Mass Effect.
I don’t usually draw weapons,
including guns, which tend to be
the most common weapon in
Mass Effect, so I had to research
different guns, and games for
examples.
5. Redesigning
Video Game
Weapons
For this assignment, I chose one of my
weapon sketches, and rendered it out.
I believe I could’ve put more effort into
the rendering of the weapon to make
it fit the overall look of the game.
6. Redesigning
a Video
Game
In this assignment, I put
together all the pieces
I’ve redesigned for Mass
Effect.
I put together my
designs for the icons,
weapons, vehicles, and
character.
I could have put more
thought into the
environmental designs
of the game, to put
together a better scene
for the background.
7. Commercial
Storyboard
This assignment was about creating a
storyboard for a commercial. I chose to
advertise Google.
I tried to imitate an “Ed, Edd n Eddy”
style for this. I think my line weights
could have been manipulated better to
match the style of the cartoon.
8. Commercial Color Key
This piece was about establishing the color scheme of the rest of the commercial.
I made sure to include the monochromatic backgrounds of “Ed Edd n Eddy” and it’s bright color scheme.
Looking over the design of the character, I believe that the style doesn’t quite match up with the look of the cartoon.
9. This assignment
was about figuring
out the layout for
a poster idea.
I also went ahead
and color blocked
it to make sure
that the elements
didn’t over power
each other.
After making the
sketch, I realized
that it needed to
be rotated to be a
proper poster size.

10. Movie Poster
This is my process working on the poster, starting with the rough sketch, line art, laying down the colors, then pushing
the values.
