Last year, I went to Mt. Whitney with my 13 year old son and he was fine. Granted, he was very well conditioned – he plays soccer 3 days a week and is also on a track team. As a family we hike approx. 10 miles quite often. So my son is a seasoned hiker. So while it does depend your kids, I would say, with good training, they should be able to do it. Good luck and hope you guys make it there soon!Yes, it is possible with your kids. I have gone many times to Mt. Whitney and seen several kids that age doing just fine. Make sure to carry everything you need to make a quick get away so you don’t get stuck there. BTW - training is critical! So, if your kids are couch potatoes, DON’T GO!
