Background Hypertension is a frequently encountered multifactorial disorder and its prevalence is reported to increase in postmenopausal females. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women. Furthermore, there is evidence that hormonal changes also leads to anthropometric changes associated with hypertension.Aim - To compare the anthropometric measures and blood pressure of pre and post menopausal women and find the association between anthropometric measures and hypertension.Methodology - A comparative study was conducted on 50 pre and 50 post menopausal women. The sampling method was purposive sampling and conducted in Goyala Vihar of Delhi. The door to door survey was conducted and data was collected using kobo tool. The measurements of BP, weight, height, hip and waist circumference was done following the protocols. The data was analysed using SPSS software.Result and conclusion - The result was significant for all variables Age, Wt, BMI, HC, WC, WHR and BAI except Ht. Independent T test was used to compare. Correlation and regression depicted that age is the predictor for diastolic blood pressure in pre menopausal women and for post menopausal women age, Ht, Wt, BMI, WC and HC are predictor of diastolic blood pressure. Women in post menopausal stage were at high risk of HTN compared to pre menopausal women. Here, we evaluated the putative association between obesity and iron deficiency by assessing the concentration of haematological iron markers and the risks associated with iron deficiency in both obese (including overweight) subjects and non-overweight participants. We performed a systematic search in the databases PubMed and Embase for relevant research articles published through December 2014. A total of 26 cross-sectional and case–control studies were analysed, comprising 13,393 overweight/obese individuals and 26,621 non- overweight participants. Weighted or standardized mean differences of blood iron markers and odds ratio (OR) of iron deficiency were compared between the overweight/obese participants and the non-overweight participants using a random-effects model. Compared with the non-overweight participants, the overweight/obese participants had lower serum iron concentrations (weighted mean difference [WMD]: −8.37 μg dL−1; 95% confidence interval [CI]: −11.38 to −5.36 μg dL−1) and lower transferrin saturation percentages (WMD: 2.34%, 95% CI: −3.29% to −1.40%). Consistent with this finding, the overweight/obese participants had a significantly increased risk of iron deficiency (OR: 1.31; 95% CI: 1.01–1.68). Moreover, subgroup analyses revealed that the method used to diag- nose iron deficiency can have a critical effect on the results of the association test; specifically, we found a significant correlation between iron deficiency and obesity in studies without a ferritin-based diagnosis, but not in studies that used a ferritin-based diagnosis. Aim: The aim of the present study was to perform the set of standard autonomic function tests in children with a family history of hypertension and compare the results with children of normotensive parents. Background: Hypertension is considered one of the highest causes of morbidity worldwide and it becomes one of the leading causes of death due to cardiovascular and renal failure. Hypertension can be especially hard to manage when combined with other disorders, such as diabetes or obesity. Most of the children with a family history of hypertension forms the risk factor for being hypertensive in future life. Results: The study included 60 young and healthy children. Out of them, 30 children were selected based on their family history of hypertension while the remaining were the children of normotensive parents. Thesubjects were selected based on exclusion-inclusion criteria. All the children underwent for a set of autonomic function tests which are noninvasive, simple and comfortable. Results showed that children with a family history of hypertension have abnormal values on autonomicfunction testing, when compared with children of normotensive parents. The results were obtained using ANOVA and student‘t’ –test, to study the significance of autonomic parameters. Conclusion: This study stated that the children with family history of hypertension experienced mild to moderate autonomic fluctuations in early age which may make them more susceptible to hypertension in their future life
