In this presentation, we highlight 5 of these commonly held myths about the US healthcare industry and provide some insight into why they simply are not true. In order to improve the overall healthcare system and create informed consumers it is necessary to negate the common myths surrounding the US healthcare system. Many myths over-simplify the complexity of an industry that generates $2.7 trillion each year and employs 16 million Americans. Other myths try to place blame for problems within the system or arise from a lack of understanding of care delivery and cost drivers within the industry. https://payerfusion.com/ceos-blog/5-myths-us-healthcare-system

Two major trends dominate healthcare in the United States. Chronic Illness is on the rise, meaning American's are having more difficulty than ever attaining mental and physical wellness. Providers are facing an unfriendly business of medicine environment requiring them to solve complex management problems while maintaining a high level of clinical excellence. The payment goal posts have moved requiring providers to understand and measure the value they provide to patients, not just the services they complete or perform. As providers struggle to understand the meaning of value in medicine and what outcomes qualify, consumers continually turn to alternative medicine and wellness initiatives to maintain their health.

Subjective Data (4 points): (Review History questions in power point and on page 534-535 of text.) Objective Data (4 points): Inspection: What is the shape and size of the abdomen? Any masses or pulsations upon inspection? Skin smooth? Striae, scars, lesions? Auscultation: Bowel Sounds Present in all 4 quadrants? Hypoactive, Normoactive, etc. Any bruits upon auscultation? Percussion: Tympany in all 4 quadrants? Palpation: Abdomen soft, firm? Any enlarged organs? Masses? Tenderness? Any other objective data you found important to document? Describe 2 Actual/Potential Risk Factors (2 points): CHAPTER 15 15.1 INTRODUCTION Although in some cases behavioral and psychiatric/mental are grouped under the same broad category, behavioral health problems are generally effectively treated on an outpatient basis with combination psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy (medications). Behavioral health professionals are licensed by the state in which they reside to practice, and they collaborate on the management of clientsâ behavioral problems. These professionals include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, family counselors, and drug/alcohol and mental health counselors (Parker, 2002). Such chronic problems as dementia and mental retardation are considered psychiatric/mental problems rather than behavioral. There is a distinct interconnectedness between mental health and health in general. The WHO defines health as, âa state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmityâ (WHO, 2001b, p. 1). Mental health on the other hand is defined as, âa state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stress of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community ⊠it is determined by socioeconomic and environmental factors and it is linked to behaviorâ (WHO, 2001a, p. 1; WHO 2010, p. 1). For example, people are generally resilient enough ...

Running head: Identification of Complementary and Alternative Medicine 1 INTREGRETING HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT WITH CARE OF CANCER 7 Integrating Homeopathic Treatment with the Care of Cancer Teresa Campbell HCS: 321 Foundations of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Belinda Atchison August 20, 2015 While In contrast, is their really enough antidotal evidence that suggest complementary and alternative medicine is more effective then mainstream medicine in the treatment of cancer? There is supported evidence that when remedies are properly used in homeopathic care, specific remedies have reversed the growth of cancer. Various forms of homeopathic therapy allow the patient to take control of their health while making small manageable changes without the huge cost. Alternative therapies open new options for patients without harmful side-effects. The interest in preventative health has encouraged society to explore outside of the mainstream field of medicine and the options of various therapies are now being considered. Is it possible for Homeopathic remedies to be the future treatment and care for cancer? Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Protocols Treating the person and as a whole being (Mind, body and spirit). The focus on engaging the inner resources of each individual as an active & conscious participate in their own well-being. Complementary and Alternative systems do not research into echelons the practitioner/healer is not above the one that is being healed. The relationship is on a continuum of mutuality where both walk step-by-step on the journey to healing (Koopsen and Young, 2009). Historical events Samuel Hahnemann noted the description of a remedy made from "Peruvian Tree Bark" (Cinchona) (Cuellar, 2006. p. 79). Hahnemannâs âThe Organon of Medicineâ was published from first edition in eighteen ten, and âThe Organon of the Healing Artâ in nineteen twenty-one which enhanced the influence of homeopathic theory significantly. (Micozzi, M, 2015) Chronic Disease Chronic illnesses refer to those illnesses that are usually not fully recovered from them once a person has them. (Burkholder, Nash, 2014). Chronic conditions can remain for life, it is important for those affected by them to understand their condition and related care in order to achieve the highest quality of life. (Eliopoulos, 2014, p.280, para 1) CAM perspective The law of Similars, Allow the body to heal itself (Micozzi, 2015, p.385 para, 6). Cam perspective is to define what is causing disharmony in the body, treat it, and then allow the body to heal itself. We live in an era when individuals can survive and have a high quality life being empowered with knowledge, having a support system, and having a positive mind frame. The healing approach is stimulated by information. Cultural Challenges Culture includes spirituality and religious practices, which are intimately related to health beliefs and practices, an.

Althe Discussion: My proposed service for Bellevue Hospital âMental health program that focuses on LGBTQIA+ Youthâ (NYC Health + Hospitals, 2022,). This program would include counseling that will help them manage stress and depression, suicide prevention, substance abuse, homelessness and other services (Trevor Project, n.d). LGBTQIA+  youth may encounter some ânegative health and life outcomesâ, so it is crucial for them to have access to these and as many other services as possible (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020).  The negative health and life outcomes LGBTQIA+ Youth experiences are issues with coming out to their friends and or family, social or fear rejection, they may experience violence, some form of trauma as well as inadequate mental or medical care (DâAmore Mental Health, n.d). By offering these services Bellevue Hospital can help with making a difference in the health and social disparities LGBTQIA+ youths face. My focus on two of the five Ps of health care marketing. For this program I will use two of the five Pâs of healthcare marketing âphysicians and patientsâ (Cellucci et al., 2014). The ones that will be utilizing these services are the patients. This program will focus on supporting the needs of these patients and assures them that they have all the support services available to them. The two of the Five Ps that I can apply my proposal is public and patients. The public health of the LGBTQIA+ Youth population would be affected the most from this proposed service. Such as homelessness, substance abuse and suicide can affect the community. Public health, âaims to improve the health and well-being of a group or a populationâ, not person (Cellucci et al., 2014).
