CFMS Infor ION BI hardware and software requirements
Infor ION BI Version 10.4.x
Updated 27th February 2013

Overview

Infor ION BI OLAP consists of:

        Server side:

                   - OLAP Server
                   - SQL Repository
                   - Application Studio Web Services (optional)

        Client side:

                   - Office Plus
                   - Application Studio

CFMS strongly recommend a dedicated machine for the OLAP Server in order to ensure optimal
stability, performance and lowest cost of ownership.

The solution will work – and is fully supported – in a Citrix or Terminal Services environment, and on
virtual machines. In these cases “dedicated” means that the allocation of resources such as CPU
cores and RAM is dedicated and in a no wait state.

Infor ION BI OLAP stores its loaded data in RAM, and therefore a major requirement is fast RAM of
sufficient quantity. Running with less RAM than recommended will adversely impact performance.

Server(s)

OLAP Server

            - Minimum 6-12 cores running at 3Ghz +
            - Minimum 8GB DDR3 RAM
            - Minimum 50GB hard drive space, CFMS recommend 100GB to allow for regular backups
            - TCP/IP networking
            - Windows Server 2012 64 bit or Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit with Service Pack 2
(Standard, Enterprise and Data Centre Editions)

Please note that these are minimum requirements and your exact needs should be discussed with
CFMS. Database size increases over time can require extra RAM so CFMS recommend a server that
can expand in this area; likewise particularly complex processing rules may require more processor
power. Dashboarding will also increase server load. As such, the above should be treated as a
starting point.

Web Services and the SQL Repository can run on the same machine as the OLAP Server, depending
on requirements. This is not recommended, but if this path is chosen higher system requirements
will be necessary to ensure performance – please discuss with CFMS.

SQL Repository

An instance of SQL Server is required to store user rights information, Application Studio report
definitions and any Office Plus reports saved to the repository. This may be on an existing SQL
Server in the organisation, but CFMS recommend a separate instance of SQL Server allowing
management of the process separately if required.

Supported versions are:

         - Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with Service Pack 1 (Express, Standard or Enterprise)
         - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 2 (Express, Standard or Enterprise)

CFMS recommend at least 50GB of disk space on the SQL Server, however the SQL database itself
will typically be between 150MB and 5GB.

Users of the optional Consolidation module will need higher performance from their SQL Server and
in this instance it is strongly recommended to have a SQL Server instance on a separate machine to
the OLAP Server.

Application Studio Web Services

This server is required if you wish to access Application Studio through a browser. It can initially
reside on the same server as the OLAP Server but CFMS will likely recommend a separate server
depending on user load, number of reports and screens.

The hardware and software requirements are the same as for OLAP Server, plus:

         - A minimum of 70MB free RAM per web instance (logged in user)
         - A fast network connection (100Mbit+) to SQL Repository and OLAP Server
         - IIS installed on an NTFS partition

Trafalgar House, Grenville Place, London NW73SA
                                         Tel 020 8959 0041 - Fax 020 8959 0052

Other Requirements

File Backup

All Infor application data files and transaction logs should be backed up on a daily basis.
