5. Today we are going to talk about two more parts of a book. The glossary and the index . Do you know where they are located in a book?
6. A glossary is a short dictionary or “mini” dictionary. It is usually at the back of a book. You can use it the same way you use a dictionary. The words in the glossary are organized in ABC order. The glossary gives us the meaning of words we may not know in the book we are reading. Let’s look at the glossary form our book on bees….
7. Glossary: Notice the entry words are printed in darker print and are in ABC order. How many words are there in this glossary? Can you read them?
8. In some books there are many different subjects. You can find these subjects by looking in the back of the book at the book index . The subjects are listed in alphabetical order. bees page 3 bugs page 7 cats page 10 dogs page 15
