The Teacher Union Reform Network (TURN) aims to strengthen teachers unions' ability to promote educational reforms that lead to better learning and higher achievement for students. TURN promotes new union models through improving instructional quality, professional development, preservice education, and compensation systems like performance pay. It is led by progressive teacher leaders from urban unions and seeks to involve state union presidents to make accountability, student achievement, and quality teaching the priority over traditional union concerns. TURN is funded by organizations like the AFT, NEA, MacArthur Foundation, and Department of Education and provides resources to member locals on issues like contract templates and teacher evaluation programs.
