Saint Francis of Assisi was born in 1181 in Assisi, Italy. As a young man, he lived a carefree life but had a religious conversion after being imprisoned for a year. He devoted himself to serving God and the poor, rebuilding chapels and preaching. In 1209, he established the Franciscan Order. Saint Francis of Assisi was born in

His real name was Giovanni di
Bernardone.
His father, Pietro, was an important
businessman and his mother was called
Pica. He also had a brother.
He is a spiritual icon and one of the most
important figures in christianity.
He died on the 3rd of October in 1226 at
the age of 44 years old.
4. Early Life When he was a child, he learned to
speak and write latin.
He lived carelessly because he only
thought in having parties with his
friends.
He enlisted the army in 1198 and in
November 1202 he was taken
prisioner for a year. At the prision he
started to read the Bible.
Saint Francis was planning to marry a
rich beatiful woman but in the end he
didn’t do it. He devoted himself to
God.
Then he felt the call of Christ and
Francis started looking after lepers.
Jesus commanded him to repair the
Church of Saint Damian.
5. Adult Life
• He rebuilt many chapels and spread
the word of God.
• He lived poorly and preached with
some disciples in lots of places for
many years.
• He loved the nature. He said that the
nature is like a mother and all the
animals , plants, elements and stars
were all our brothers and sisters.
• He established the Franciscans
Order in 1209.
• Giovanni died in 1226 in the church
of Porciuncula.
