The Dark Knight Presentation
1.
2. Production
Dark Knight Is a 2008 Superhero Film, directed and co-written by
Christopher Nolan.
Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago, as well as in several
other locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong
Kong. Nolan used an IMAX camera to film some sequences,
including the Joker's first appearance in the film. Warner Bros
chose to film in Chicago for thirteen weeks, because Nolan had a
"truly remarkable experience" filming part of Batman Begins there.
It was released on July 14th
2008.
Nolan's inspiration for the film was the Joker's comic book debut in
1940, and the 1996 series, The Long Halloween, which retold two-
faces origin.
3. Marketing
In May 2007, 42 Entertainment began a viral marketing campaign
utilizing the film's "Why So Serious?" tagline with the launch of a
website featuring the fictional political campaign of Harvey
Dent, with the caption, "I Believe in Harvey Dent”.
After the death of Heath Ledger on January 22, 2008, Warner Bros.
adjusted its promotional focus on the Joker, revising some of its
websites dedicated to promoting the film and posting a
memorial tribute to Ledger on the film's official website and
overlaying a black memorial ribbon on the photo collage in
WhySoSerious.com.
On May 15, 2008, Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Great
Adventure theme parks opened The Dark Knight roller coaster,
which cost $7.5 million to develop and which simulates being
stalked by the Joker.
4. Distribution
It was Distributed by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
It had a Budget of $185 Million and made a Gross Revenue of
$1,001,921,825
Mattel produced toys and games for The Dark Knight, action
figures, role play costumes, board games, puzzles, and a special-
edition UNO card game, which began commercial distribution
in June 2008.
In the United States and Canada, The Dark Knight was distributed
to 4,366 theaters, breaking the previous record for the highest
number of theaters held by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's
End in 2007. The number of theaters also included 94 IMAX
theaters, with the film estimated to be played on 9,200 screens in
the United States and Canada.
5. Exhibition
In the United Kingdom, the film had combined sales of 513,000
units on its first day of release, of which 107,730 (21%) were Blu-
ray Discs, the highest number of first-day Blu-ray Discs sold.
In the United States, The Dark Knight set a sales record for most
DVDs sold in one day, selling 3 million units on its first day of
release – 600,000 of which were Blu-ray Discs.
6. Bruce’s character is a mask so no one can see who he really is.
Batman is strong of mind and body,he does what needs to be no
matter the cost to him.Batman is a hero but not everyone wants
there to be a hero.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
7. The Joker is a serial killer and a super-villain, a dangerous madman
who dresses like a clown and commits violent crimes. He is often
recognized as Batman's greatest enemy, living in and
terrorizing,Gotham City. In addition to being a deadly and
unpredictable physical combatant, he is a brilliant and ruthless
criminal mastermind. His crimes require no motivation other than his
sadistic desire to show people the meaninglessness of life through
pain and death, and the narcissism to see the world remade in his
own image. He is constantly adapting his personality and his
psychosis to respond to the world around him, sometimes a harmless
trickster and at others a brutal mass-murderer.

9. Agent of chaos…
“When the chips are down, these civilized people…
they’ll eat each other.”
People think too much of themselves sometimes.
Have you noticed? I’m not saying that’s bad, or
wrong. I’m not calling people stupid, either. It’s very
understandable. We like to think of ourselves as
noble, honest, and good, especially in comparison to
other people. We like to believe we’d never hurt
someone, or cause any damage of any kind.
10. The Dark Knight Quotes…
The Joker: I believe whatever doesn’t kill you simply
makes you… stranger.
The Joker: The only sensible way to live in this world
is without rules!
“One thing I’ve learned is if you’re good at something,
never do it for free.”
“Why so serious?”
11. And still I rise…
While The Dark Knight is mostly about
representations,The Dark Knight Rises is much more
about the “will-to-life.” In the central scene, Bruce
Wayne, locked in Bane’s cistern-like prison, has one
chance to escape — a Njinja Warrior-esque ascent up
the Middle East’s most treacherous climbing wall.
12. The message.
I like the correlation between Batman Begins and
Dark Knight. At the end of the first one Bruce saves
the city of Gotham in many great acts of bravery not
carring whether he lives or dies, just as long as
Gotham is saved. In Dark Knight Batman faces a
villian in the Joker who planned a way to take Gotham
down not carring whether he lives or dies.
