Anaylysis of WDF Academy Magazine

1. Negative Space
White space, the area of
page without text, image
or other elements.
Something I would
improve when making my
music magazine would be
keeping negative space to
a minimum as it is not
fulfilling and purpose. I
would do this by adding
more text, pictures and
fillers.
Feature Article
Photograph
For the feature
article photograph, I
set Jessica against I
white background
to ensure that
cutting her out from
the background
would be easier.
Next time, I would
use the green
screen to ensure
that there were no
jagged edges and
the outline of my
feature photograph
is smooth.
Flush Left/Right
Although I have used
Flush left and flush
right, Magazines should
be presented in
columns. When I am
producing my music
magazines I will ensure
that my text is
presented in columns
and that I include more
text to fill negative
space.
Master Head
Although the
master head is
large it isn’t bold
or gripping in any
way. To improve
upon this I would
ensure that the
master head pulls
the reader ion.

Typography
Havn’t varied the fonts
within the contents
page, varying the fonts
and size makes the page
more interesting. It
should be clear and
visible. When making my
music magazine I will
ensure to keep
typography in mind.
Puff
No puff included in the
contents page to unties
the reader. Anybody
looking at this contents
page will deter them
from reading the
magazine, not enough
information included in
the contents page. In my
music magazine I will
include images, text and
information to promote
the magazine to the
reader.
Images
The contents page only
includes one poorly presented
image. The image does not tell
the reader a lot about the
contents of the magazine. For
my next magazine issue, more
photographs will be used to
give more information and to
fill negative space.

3. IPhone camera
One form of technology I used to
produce my magazine is a
camera, this was to capture the
image used as my feature article
photograph. When taking a photo
I had to concentrate on lighting
and camera angles. This
photograph was taken as long
shot with the focus of the
photograph looking straight into
the lenses.
Quick selection and eraser tool
– Photoshop
I used the quick selection tool
in order to quickly select the
areas of the photograph I
wanted to erase. Although this
tool is very useful, you have to
be very precise in order for the
photograph to retain its quality.
On the school logog you can
see an example of where I
didn’t use the eraser tool
presisely enough.
Text tool – Photoshop
To write over my feature article
photograph, I used the text tool
and the layering feature on
Photoshop. The text tool
includes a variation fonts and
sizes.
In order to produce my overall outcome, I used Photoshop. The
reason for this is because there is a wide variation of tools to
enhance and create images to produce an effective outcome
including text and images. Here are some tools and technology I
used to within Photoshop to produce the outcome:
