This document outlines Piaget's six substages of sensorimotor development from birth to 2 years old. In the first substage from birth to 4 months, infants use reflexes to process information. From 4 to 8 months, infants learn to repeat chance bodily movements and movements related to their environment. By 8 to 12 months, babies' actions become intentional and goal-directed. From 12 to 18 months, toddlers intentionally experiment with different behaviors. In the final substage from 18 to 24 months, toddlers think about possibilities and select actions that achieve the intended result.
