1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this
product?
2. Planning
• While producing my media product I had to use
a wide variety of equipment and methods in order
to produce my magazine . Before producing my
magazine I had to look at what equipment I would
have to use in order to fully and successfully
produce my media product. I also had to develop
my skills of using the equipment because if I
hadnt I would not have been able to produce a
media product of good enough quality.
3. Planning
To create my magazine I had to use multiple
technologies and software which included the
following:
-InDesign
-Blogger.com
-Slideshare.com
-Digital Camera
-Photoshop
-DaFont.com
4. InDesign
The main piece of software I had to learn to use was InDesign. This was the
main program where I was able to create and design my magazine. I used
InDesign in order to create my; cover, contents page, and double page spread, I
found this programme a lot easier to use in order to create my magazine than it
was to use Microsoft Publisher I found InDesign easy to use as there were a lot
more tools available esspecially for the design I wanted. After doing so I then
added images, worked out the layout, and also the content of the magazines.
Even during the first time that I used this programme I learnt efficiently; I found it
easy to use, even during slightly complicated bits such as installing photos and
positioning them correctly. I had help to learn how to do this, though eventually I
got the hang of it and was able to finish my magazine independently. I found that
with this programme I could make my magazine look professional very easily
with hardly any help. I found InDesign extremely helpful and relevant to creating
my magazine as it had all of the different tools that I needed in order to do so.
5. Blogger.com
With this coursework task I found Blogger.com extremely easy and
useful to use; it has been an important programme during this project as
it made it easier to see what work I had to do and complete. I found it
easy to keep track of my work using its online record system which we
have kept all of our media work on and I have used it to update and
record all of the work that I have done for this task and others so far it
also allowed me to present my work in a clear and consistent way. In this
task I have used Blogger.com to blog the production, research and
planning. I found it easy to use and to sign up for it; and also to maintain
anything that needs doing or updating on my magazine; I think
Blogger.com is an excellent source for recording work with. The fact that
you can embed videos and slideshows as well as add images to it;
helped me a lot with the project as it allowed me to narrate and show
how I did things and also find different technologies in order to do so.
6. Slideshare
I used slideshare.net to upload and eventually embed my PowerPoint
presentations onto blogger.com. I find this an easy website to use as it
doesn’t require users to create a log in or account; though there is the
choice to; I used a guest account which allows you temporary access.
After uploading a PowerPoint onto the website you must convert it; which
is done automatically after it uploads and once that is done you can
collect the link to it and copy and paste that onto blogger.com. I would
definitely use this again as its simple and less complicated that I thought
it would be. This programme will allow me to make my evaluation
interactive.
7. PhotoShop
I only needed photoshop to edit my images on my
magazine. I didn't really know how to use
photoshop and still don't I had to end up looking
on the internet on how to add effects to images
then I was finished with that software. I found it
easier to edit the rest of my images on a more
accesible and simpler online editing website.
8. Digital Camera
I had to use my own digital camera for the first time to
take images for my Front cover, Double page spread and
contents page.
I did not find using the camera challenging at all although
trying to find the best angle, lighting and overall mis en
scene of the shot particularly difficult to master. I had to
take in mind how well the image would go behind the
masthead and other text and also that the person
modelling looked the part. I found uploading the pictures
to my computer also very easy and simple to do and did
not take up very much time compared to the overall
shooting of the pictures themselves. This camera played
a major role in the production of my magazine and I
would definitely use it again as I felt it was easy to use
and it is a good piece of high quality equipment.
9. Conclusion
Overall I feel that all of the technology that I used
helped me to gather new skills as well as making
it easier to complete my work on this project while
making everything look as professional as
possible. From editing pictures,taking
pictures,uploading documents etc.
