- Introduce myself: Andy Alsop VP, Business Development Deep Web Technologies Been in business since 2002 Joined co in end of ’09. Handle all partnership relations By a show of hands: How many have Fed Search? How many have Discovery solutions? How many have neither?
- DWT does: Provides one-stop access to all electronic sources Swets does: Provides solutions to fulfill the customers information needs Match: Swets provides electronic content and DWT gives customers the power to access all of that content DWT & Swets partnered for the SW Searcher
- Give an overview of a partnership Why? You are purchasing products and services from a vendor When working with a vendor it’s important to know there is a strong relationship b/t the vendor and its partner Vision: Both Swets & DWT recognized the value of working together. Alignment: Were able to quickly assess the value to the customer Two-way communication: Communication is key Flexibility: things change. Both parties need to be flexible Mutual Respect: Understand what each party brings to the table.
- R&D: Using over $5M of funding developed the application Some of the ways that we have improved our technology with the end-user in mind: Incremental Search Relevance Ranking Clustering Multi-lingual – Search in your native language and then display the results in your native language

- As happens in many company’s app was developed by engineers. We received library input which was extremely helpful End-user behavior observation and interviews created a next generation disucssion We came up with some pretty interesting conclusions
- UI suggestions Over 29 pages & over 100 Usability improvements Next generation application
- Examples of near term improvements: Get updates was hidden Collection status was not well place Selections box not readily apparent
- These are questions we are continually asking ourselves.
