“Half-Life” is how a link or a social media post is referenced in terms of the
time it takes for it’s initial value to drop. There is value to measuring the time
when the content (a link or a post) engagement (likes, comments, shares,
etc.) has received 50% of its attention. Another way to explain it is to say the
time measurement the content falls to half of its initial value.

half-life of a link or post (content) on social media is distressingly
short. Here is their analysis of 1,000 links distributed on social
networks:
Twitter = 2.8 hours
Facebook = roughly 24 minutes longer than Twitter
YouTube = 7.4 hours
