The two who have several years’ experience in the fashion and Artistic worlds, have created an opportunity for those in the fashion, Art and music industry to network and gain exposure.
1. SOCIETY OF REVELLERS CASE STUDY
CLIENT: IN DA INDUSTRY SERVICES
EVENT: GALA EXPRESSIONS 2011
THE CHALLENGE:
In Da Industry Services is an organization that works in the community to provide
the opportunity for activities that are no longer readily available within the school
system, by continuously providing workshops and classes such as dance,
creative written expression, painting and acting. Society of Revellers was
approached to help organizing an event that will promote the Ottawa local music
scene and at the same time, most of the profit were going towards the fund and
drive initiative by CKCUFM, a strong mentor of In Da Industry Services and an
active player in the Ottawa community for over a decade.
SUCCESS:
Titled the gala “Expressions”, the show marks Jewne Johnson second
offering of this type of commemoration in Ottawa, Ontario. In Da Industry
and Society of Revellers met with friends, family and supporters for this
special event Sunday November 6th 2011. The gala Expressions included a
number of special appearances started by the spoken word wizard, Hyf the
Gypsy Sun. The list of musicians go as follow, Aron the Alien, TruHalf,
Cezelini, the gifted Naki B and the artistic Karma. Local Ottawa artists
Strange, Sagine Cave and Dagger Dagger got to display all their new art
work at Island Flava at 234 Montreal Road, Ottawa, ON.
Tickets sold out for the event as many people showed up and
supported local music in their city. The expected attendance was
100- 150 due to the space we had at our disposal, but we had over
200 people showing up and many did not mind standing up to
capture these local talented musicians on display.
By having local sponsors to back up the event, the show was a one-off Ottawa
show for some of these artists who also perform elsewhere in the country.
The energy and the amazing vibes of this event were all as part of this
celebration of Music, Art and fashion in the city
HOW WE GOT THERE:
We developed the marketing and advertising campaign for the Gala
Expressions. Having two months to plan and execute our plan, we
decided to first design the poster for the event. By acquiring
sponsorships from prominent clothing stores in the city, we secured
2. the sale of tickets at each sponsor location and gain gift cards to act
as giveaways through contests. we also built followers by monitoring
others Tweets and participate in the conversation.
However, since our timeframe was small, we needed to actively
reach out to other Twitter users to gain a good following. We set a
goal of 200 followers by the day of the event. We used several
online tools including TwitterGrader.com's search function and
search.twitter.com.
We spread out our pushes to gain followers, and over two months
leading up to the event, we:
- researched and followed Ottawans who listed "local music" in their
profiles
- researched and followed Ottawans who are following local talent
and musicians
- researched and followed Ottawans who have music listed in their
profiles and have the best Twitter Grades
- started following all the local music community artists and
organizations in Ottawa
- monitored and followed all Twitterers discussing "local music"
"Ottawa music" and various other searches
We were able to attract 206 followers in a two months window.
