Subject: Strong Recommendation for Zaid Al-Ali
Dear Madame/Sir,
I strongly recommend Zaid Al-Ali for your consideration for this position. Zaid was with Gridless for a
summer internship, and in that time he was able to make a huge contribution to the tech development
of company. I’m sure he’ll be able to be impactful for you as well.
Zaid spent his internship tackling a tough problem, critical to our company’s development path. He was
responsible for laying the groundwork for our transition away from Arduino based solutions to the pure
Atmel ARM architecture, and implementing it in a high speed control algorithm for a power conversion
circuit.
I was impressed with how well Zaid was able to handle the tough, open ended challenge. We basically
handed him an Atmel E70 development board, provided a very basic overview of the functionality we
were looking for, and said “figure it out.” He took that and ran with it, working persistently while at the
office, and even taking the work home with him on the weekend to keep working through it.
I was equally impressed with how well Zaid was able to work with the rest of our intern team. He was
the odd-man-out, being the only Temple student on a team of UPenn students who knew each other
before the internship, but that didn’t stop him. By mid-summer he had enlisted 3 others to assist on the
project. He had them divide and conquer, breaking the problem down, and tackling the parts.
The diligence and great teamwork payed off. By the end of summer Zaid had successfully completed the
task, and we couldn’t have been happier with the results.
Feel free to contact me (number and email below) to discuss further if needed.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jason Halpern
