1. Pictures For My School
Based Magazine

2. An idea I thought of to base my school
magazine on is a issue where the main focus
would be based on studying tips for exam
season. The magazine would be aimed at sixth
form students so a target audience of male
and female ages 16-18.
3. Front Cover- Main Picture
For my school based magazine, I wanted to
use a picture of students studying in a
learning environment. I decided to take this
mid- shot because it contains pupils who
look interested in learning with plenty of
papers on the table. The background is
another reason why I chose this image
because it shows a library which is a
learning environment and the books in the
background further show the support of
the school.
The picture I took turned out slightly darker
than I wanted it to look. To overcome this, I
used Photoshop to brighten the image and
increase the saturation to make the colours
pop out more, making my front cover as
eye catching as I can. I also cropped it a
little to put more emphasis on the students
studying at the table as the focal point of
the shot.

4. Another picture I took to include in my
school based magazine is a mid-shot of
a student reading a book by the
computer in the library. This
compliments my initial idea of having
my magazine be a guide for revision
because it clearly shows a student in
the foreground taking time to study in
a quiet area. The picture also contains
a good background with computers
and books which help show the
different revision recourses the school
has and ideas on how you can study.
I faintly edited this image in Photoshop
also, increasing the contrast because I
found the original image to be quite
light and faded. By doing this, the
image became more coloured and eye-
catching for the target audience.

5. I found that this close up shot of a
book is a good picture to include in
my School Based Magazine
because it shows a student holding
the book and the camera looking
down on it as if the audience is
reading it.
Again, I took this image to
Photoshop where I increased the
contrast and saturation, making it
as bright and colourful as possible
to draw the target audience’s
attention.

6. The image on the left is
another image I would like to
use for my school based
magazine. It is a mid-shot of a
student looking at a map and
it contains a lot of colour
which is important in drawing
the reader to the magazine
and brightening the page as a
whole.
I took a picture of another student
working in the library because I found it
was a suitable place and provided a good
background which helps show the
purpose of a magazine. By using students
in the same age group as the target
audience, it helps the readers to be more
likely to pick up the magazine as it shows
its aimed at them.
7. I decided to include this image of
students working at a table for
another one of my school based
magazine shots. The background is
interesting as it contains pictures
from prom, which could be seen as a
reward for hard work and getting
through exams, helping students to
be more dedicated to revising. The
teacher in the background shows
how the students can always get
help and the colours in the whole
image are bright and attention-
grabbing thus making it more
interesting for the target audience.
The students are smiling and
laughing which would encourage
other students looking at the
magazine to study because they can
see it doesn’t always have to be a
dull experience.
