The National Executive of AIFRTE demands the immediate release of Dr. Anand Teltumbde and other activists, intellectuals, cultural workers, lawyers, and poets who have been arrested by the Modi government on political charges related to the Bhima Koregaon violence. Dr. Teltumbde and others have been charged under the draconian UAPA for the Bhima Koregaon violence where dalit groups were targeted, yet no action has been taken against the real perpetrators. The pattern of these arrests shows the government is trying to silence critical voices and establish a regime of fear by targeting individuals who stand up for oppressed groups.

Resolution for immediate release of Prof Anand Teltumbde and intellectuals, cultural activists,
lawyers and academicians arrested by the government on trumped-up charges.
The National Executive of AIFRTE demands immediate release of Dr Anand Teltumbde and all other
activists, poets, intellectuals, cultural workers and lawyers who have been arrested by the Modi government
in political cases, especially the one related to Bhima Koregaon violence.
Dr Anand Teltumbde, a presidium member of the AIFRTE and several others have been arrested and many
have been charged under the draconian UAPA in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence in which
dalit groups were targeted by Shambhaji Bhide and Eknath Ekbote of right-wing brahminical groups. It
should be noted that no concrete action has been against these persons. The pattern of these arrests clearly
establishes that the Modi government is targeting individuals who have a track record of standing for the
rights of the oppressed sections of the country. This selective crackdown on critical voices indicates that the
government wants to establish a regime of fear where nobody dares question the anti-people and anti-
constitutional agenda of communal hatred and complete sell-out to corporate capital.
The National Executive of AIFRTE resolves to educate and mobilise all sections of the people of India to act
resolutely against the nefarious agenda of fascist brahminical forces that have joined hands with corporate
capital to dismantle all the rights of the people gained through intense struggle and sacrifice during the
freedom movement.
The UAPA should be repealed and all prisoners should be immediately repealed.
