Educating the kids about the consequences helps.
Teaching them to respect others and to take a stand
against bullying of all kinds helps too.
What's the parents' role in this?
Parents need to be the one trusted place kids can go
when things go wrong online and offline. Yet they
often are the one place kids avoid when things go
wrong online.
11. What is being done
Sites such as Stop Cyber Bullying are there to help
people become educated about the subject and what
to do in certain situations.
The Governor of New York signed a legislation to
help protect children from cyber bullying

There are different types of bullying as you can see and each one of these can become a very serious situation if it is not dealt with quickly. Flaming wars are seen very often on Facebook or Twitter and become very hostile. Also Harassament is seen all the time in highschool when it comes to popularity or jealousy.
As you can see in the chart you can see the percentages for teens and adults for whether or not they use internet and social media websites and you can also determine how many are being “mean” “Cruel”. The biggest number that pops out to me is that adults are “mean” or “cruel” eighteen percent frequently. That is a little high in my own opinion. It is expected out of children I believe but not out of adults. Even though the term adult in this study is ages 18 and up.
If you are a person that has been bullied online it can have many impacts on the rest of your life. The biggest one on this list is suicide. There have been many instances where cyber bullying has led to suicide and that needs to be stopped.
Shows the different types of races that are on social media and the percents of certain bullying topics.
Why people feel it is necessary to bully people for no reason is beyond me. But people do it and they do it for certain reasons. In my own opinion I feel people cyber bully most of the time because they are not as popular as they would like to be and they feel it they need to put other people down to make them feel better about themselves. Whatever the cause may be, it is becoming a very popular tactic and it wont stop because the access to internet is just going to get easier.
Technology is the root to blame for the whole start of cyber bullying, but I feel the Social Media sites are the real ones to blame. Facebook/Twitter have made it very easy for people to “post” or “tweet” on their walls and have the freedom to post whatever they want. Also these sites also allow you to lie and pretend to be someone your not. It is very easy for someone to create a page saying they are someone and mess with peoples heads and cause serious problems for the one individual.
When people are being abused online they need to know how to stop it immediately. The first action would be to recognize that you are being bullied and report it. If you do not speak up it may become very stressful in your life and can make bad things happen. If you’re a child also you need the role of your parents to be just as on top of this as the child is. The help of the parents could stop you from making bad decisions.
A Chicago bears fan posted on facebook about the Green Bay Packers cheerleaders. The image of Kaitlyn Collins, posted with the caption "Like if You Agree The Packers Have the Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL," drew nearly 2,000 comments, many of them hurtful and vulgar, before it was removed. Collins said she and her friends petitioned Facebook to take down the image and the nasty comments when they went up on Feb. 4; but the social media site said that the photo did not qualify as cyber bullying. Eventually Collins youtube video and petitions got the picture to be taking down.
Yes there are things being done to help prevent bad things to happening to people. The President of the United States is working on laws against Cyber bullying. Governor Cuomo has also been trying to prevent these things. But the question is, even if there are laws against cyber bullying, will it prevent all actions of cyber bullying in the world? My guess would be no. But we will find out.
