How to measure web usability using the system usability scale (sus)
In today’s increasing web-savvy world, audiences are constantly scrutinising and responding to the experience they have on your site; get it wrong and they’ll leave or become disengaged. In order to create the optimal user experience, it is essential to understand the end user and structure an experience which appeals to their wants and needs. A very top level method to assess the user experience of your website, mobile site or app is the System Usability Scale, or SUS. Introducing sus
In order your evaluation to be reliable, a respectable amount of people is required.  We cannot use the System Usability Scale with a sample less of 15 users. There is no need for professionals or experts to test your website, but any current or potential user is ideal. The ultimate scenario would be people who have used the website before in natural conditions. participants
It is a very easy and simple technique with 10 statements of the same simplicity.   The only thing you have to do is to use a set of 10 ordinary (pre-defined) questions: I would use this website frequently I found it unnecessarily complex It was easy to use I ‘d need help to use it The various parts of the website worked well together Too much inconsistency I think others would find it easy to use I found it very cumbersome to use I felt very confident using the website I needed to understand how it worked in order to get going How to set up sus
For each statement give a scale of 5, from “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree”, as shown below, and prompt users to answer. How to set up sus
After collecting the data go into the next step to grade usability. Replace each answer with a number from 0 to 4. For questions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 the score contribution is the opposite: Strongly Disagree = 4 Disagree = 3 Not sure = 2 Agree = 1 Strongly Agree = 0 Specifically, for questions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 the score contribution is: Strongly Disagree = 0 Disagree = 1 Not sure = 2 Agree = 3 Strongly Agree = 4 How to score sus
b.  Add scores and multiply total by 2.5. Calculate the mean to find the score. The total score should end up with a range between 0 and 100. The higher the score, the more usable the website is. Any value around 60 and above is considered as good usability. NOTE: The SUS should never substitute user testing.   It is a low cost technique that can be used in parallel with user testing and enhance/validate the results. How to score sus
