This assignment by far was the worst assignment for me to complete. It terrified me from Day One. I
absolutely hate to be filmed, recorded, interviewed on the radio, you name it. I froze up on our local
radio after a basketball game in which they asked for a live interview, I couldn’t do it. Public Speaking
doesn’t bother me nearly as bad as having a video camera or microphone in front of me. However,
despite this problem I do see very positive things with this assignment because kids love videos. Kids will
sit down and watch a short 4-8 minute video than hear you talk for 5 minutes about anything, so it’s a
good way to express many different ideas. This would be great to show Character Education and
Globalization because for these subjects you really have to model for the students. You can create
videos on showing proper dinner etiquette, how to interact with social peers correctly, and so on. As
much as I want to see this assignment changed, I really don’t see a better way to present the
information any better than what was done by Professor Blanco. Showing a couple more examples of
good and bad videos would have been a little more helpful. I would expand on going over more of the
video editing aspects and software used. I downloaded IMovie for my IPad to complete the teaching
video and found it very user friendly and getting help with editing was simple as the help button
highlighted what you needed to hit to edit something. For the Storytelling video I used Final-Cut Pro, my
roommate is an IT guy, and it was difficult but easy to use at the same time as I have used it a little in the
past. The most frustrating part about Final-cut is hitting Render every time you make a edit on the video.
Overall, this assignment really benefited me gaining knowledge on how to use videos more efficiently in
the classroom.
