Comme annoncé dans le premier point « Stand van zaken van het panel », Wout aborde les détails sur le problème du polling dans le Sud. Pendant la nuit du mercredi 23 au jeudi 24 mai, GfK a constaté une forte baisse dans le nombre de ménages où ils ont pu récupérer des données (une baisse de 758 le jour d’avant à 715 ce jour-là). Vu les orages qu’il y a eu, ce n’est pas exceptionnel. Il y a des panélistes qui coupent le courant en cas d’orages. GfK a pris contact avec les ménages concernés (situés dans la région de Charleroi) et leur a demandé de raccorder la prise. C’est à ce moment-là que l’on s’est rendu compte qu’il y avait un autre problème à la base et un technicien a été envoyé sur place. Il a constaté que les audimètres avec une carte Proximus n’ont pas été capables d’envoyer des données. Cependant les mêmes cartes fonctionnent parfaitement en dehors de la région. C’est pour cela que GfK a pris contact avec Proximus. Le lendemain (vendredi 25 mai), le problème persistait. GfK a envoyé tous les détails des cartes concernées à Proximus. Proximus suppose qu’il pourrait y avoir un problème avec un terminal. Pendant le long weekend de Pentecôte, il n’y avait pas de permanence chez Proximus. Ce n’est qu’à partir du mardi 29 mai que GfK a pu insister chez Proximus pour finalement obtenir une réponse. Le lendemain (mercredi 30 mai), vers la fin de la journée, Proximus a identifié le problème : suite à un update, un problème est survenu sur le réseau 2G dans la région. Ils ne savaient pas quand il pourrait être résolu. Le jeudi 31 mai, tous les techniciens ont été convoqués pour une réunion de crise chez GfK. Ils ont décidé de lancer un plan B : remplacer toutes les cartes Proximus par des cartes Mobistar. GfK a pris contact avec tous les ménages concernés pour fixer un rendez-vous avec un technicien. L’effet de cette intervention est devenu visible à partir du lundi 4 juin : 20 ménages sont de nouveau repris dans les résultats. Les techniciens continuent à rendre visite aux ménages. Aujourd’hui (le 8 juin), on obtient de nouveau un nombre de ménages acceptable (754). Bernard remarque que les audimètres ont quand même la possibilité de stocker des données pendant une certaine période et demande s’il n’y a pas moyen de les récupérer. Wout confirme que les audimètres ont une certaine capacité de stockage mais le nombre de données à récupérer dépend fort du comportement de vision. En pratique, il ne voit pas très bien quoi et comment relivrer pour cette période. Wout souligne qu’il n’y a pas eu d’impact sur l’ efficiency. C ’ est vrai que la granularité des données était moindre pendant cette période mais la représentativité est restée stable. Stef Peeters se demande pourquoi on parle d ’ une possibilité de back-up si dans la pratique cette possibilité n ’ est pas envisageable. Il demande à Wout d ’ investiguer cela en profondeur. Proximus continue à investiguer le problème. Ils ont confirmé ne plus faire d’updates entretemps et qu’ils signaleront leurs interventions dans le futur. GfK, pour sa part, continue à remplacer les cartes Proximus par des cartes Mobistar dans la région impactée. À court terme, GfK prévoit de diminuer le nombre de cartes Proximus et d’augmenter le nombre de cartes Mobistar, pour obtenir une meilleure dispersion dans tout le panel. À moyen terme, il est prévu de passer à une transmission de données via GPRS, fourni par T-Mobile Roaming. Le but est de ne plus dépendre d’un seul opérateur. Pour l’instant, GfK fait le test chez dix ménages. 2.1 Polling Zuid – Vervolg Proximus incident GfK kreeg ondertussen meer duidelijkheid over de software-update die Proximus halfweg mei uitvoerde. Deze veroorzaakte heel wat problemen bij de polling van de data bij de panelleden in het Zuiden. De software-update zorgde ervoor dat de handshake tijd, de tijd die nodig is om verbinding te maken met de meter, langer werd. Hierdoor werd de op de meter ingestelde tijd overschreden waarin deze connectie moet maken (= handshake window). De tijdsduur werd ondertussen verlengd waardoor het probleem nu van de hand zou moeten zijn. Nieuwe updates, onder meer in West-Vlaanderen, hebben uitgewezen dat de aanpassing werkt. Op 10 juni deed er zich echter een nieuw incident voor. Die dag werden slechts 717 gezinnen gepolled in het Zuiden. Het probleem deed zich deze keer voor in de regio Doornik, Ath, La Louvière, Bergen en Binche. De update werd net als in de andere regio’s uitgevoerd maar zorgde voor een serverpanne bij Proximus. Proximus reageerde deze keer dan ook sneller en tegen 10u was het probleem verholpen. Te laat echter om de gegevens van de betrokken gezinnen nog te pollen. De volgende dag waren er opnieuw voldoende gezinnen in het netto panel. Melissa Adriaensens wil weten hoe lang de updates bij Proximus nog zullen duren. Ze maakt zich zorgen mocht het probleem zich voordoen bij de start van de najaarprogrammatie. Wout Dockx geeft aan dat GfK een overzicht heeft gekregen van de regio’s waar de updates nog moeten worden uitgevoerd. Echter zonder concrete timing. Het valt dus niet uit te sluiten dat er nog updates zullen volgen in september. De problemen die zich eind mei stelden, zijn ondertussen wel opgelost door de aanpassing van de handshake window door GfK. Het recentste incident van 10 juni had een andere oorzaak en was te wijten aan een serverpanne bij Proximus. Dergelijke pannes kunnen altijd voorkomen. Er is echter wel een mogelijkheid tot disaster recovery: indien er zich een ernstig incident zou voordoen, waardoor de data van een groot deel van het panel ontbreken, is het mogelijk om de data achteraf te recupereren. Na enkele vragen hierover tijdens de laatste TC, geeft GfK wat meer uitleg (zie volgende punt).
