You have been looking for a job for a while now but have not had any success ? Maybe the trade or occupation
you have been focusing on did not offer the kind of employment possibilities you were expecting.
This guide intends to help you to explore new job leads and to help you to boost your job search. Its goal is to
help you to discover different trades and occupations that may fit your skills and work experience. With that
goal in mind, follow each of the following steps.
2. View job titles
Read the job description and make sure
it fits your skills or previous work
experience. Click on View all job titles.
In the list that appears, identify the job
titles that you think match your trade
or occupation and that, at first glance,
interest you. Write them down on a
piece of paper, as they could be new
job avenues worth exploring.
5. 6.
As well, a person who is waiting for his/her
degree or diploma to be recognized, for
example a university degree in chemistry,
might find job leads in the list of job titles under
chemical technician.
If you clicked on a job title under Job
titles-Classified elsewhere and are in the
description of the corresponding job, go
back to the description of your trade or
occupation using the Back button.
When you have finished writing down the job titles, go back
to the page with the description of your trade or occupation,
either by clicking on the Back button in the top left-hand
corner of the browser window or by simply clicking on
Detailed description under Information on the occupation.
View job offers
On the job description page, click on Online
Placement in the column on the left, under
Information on the occupation.
Next, click on View job offers. It will show you the job
openings in the trade or occupation you worked in or
want to work in.
Write down the jobs that interest you and the names
of the employers, then close the window.
7. 8.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page
to Job titles – Classified elsewhere.
You might find other jobs for which
you are qualified. If any of the job titles
interest you, add them to your list.

For example, in viewing the list of job titles matching
his/her occupation, a chemical technician might
realize that he/she could apply for other positions that
fit his/her skills and previous work experience, such as:
• brewery technician
• water purification technician
• food technician
• quality control technician – chemical processing
3. 9.
Find your sector of activity
Other employers might also have job
openings in the trade or occupation
you worked in or want to work in.
These employers constitute other
resources you can add to your
search and it would be useful to
have their names.
11.
Find companies in your sector of
activity
In the description of the sector, under
Business directory of sector, click on
the sub-sector for which you want a list
of businesses.
12.
If you want, you can narrow your search
on the Search for businesses page.
Once you have validated the search criteria, click on
Search to get a list of businesses related to your
trade or occupation.
If you want, you can repeat the last steps by
selecting other sectors or sub-sectors of activity in
order to get the names of other businesses that
might have job openings in your trade or occupation.
You can also repeat the entire process from the
beginning, following the same steps for another
trade or occupation you saw. Some of the job titles
you wrote down might yield the same results; others
might give you new job leads.
To find out which employers might have job
openings in the trades or occupations that best
match your trade or occupation, click on Main
sectors of activity in the column on the left, under
Information on the occupation.
10.
The results will show the main
sectors of economic activity that
employ people in your trade or
occupation.
Click on the sector you are interested in, to
access a detailed description of the sector.
It will take you to the Search for businesses page.
