• Semua kuasa arus ulang – alik dijanakan oleh penjana
tiga fasa atau janakuasa
• Dalam sistem arus ulangalik (AU) satu fasa, apabila satu
gegelung diputarkan dan memotong uratdaya magnet,
satu voltan AU akan terjana. Sekiranya lebih daripada
satu gegelung diputarkan pada aci yang sama,
memotong urat daya magnet yang sama, setiap
gegelung akan menjanakan satu voltan AU yang
mempunyai amplitud gelombang yang sama tetapi
mempunyai beza fasa tertentu antara satu dengan lain.
• Sistem yang menggunakan lebih daripada satu gegelung
dinamakan sistem pelbagai-fasa (poly phase). Dengan
kata lain, sistem tiga fasa menggunakan tiga gegelung.

• Apabila kita membincangkan sistem tiga fasa,
perkataan-perkataan yang sering kedengaran
adalah fasa (phase) dan talian (line)
• Voltan yang teraruh dalam setiap gegelung
adalah dipanggil voltan fasa (VPH); manakala
arus yang mengalir melalui gegelung tersebut
dikenali sebagai arus fasa (IPH)
• Voltan antara mana-mana dua terminal/talian
dinamakan voltan talian (VL), dan arus yang
mengalir dalam talian dinamakan arus talian
(IL)
