The document describes a game that involves office chairs and blindfolds. The game is similar to capture the flag. There are two teams of attackers trying to reach the flag without getting tagged by the blindfolded defenders. A ninth person acts as the referee to start the game and ensure players follow the rules. When testing the game, it was discovered that a larger space was needed due to the number of players, and it was difficult to control blindfolded players who did not listen to their instructors or the extra noise from other players. A referee with a whistle would help maintain better control.
2. The Game
After creating our game we then realised that it was quite like the game
‘Capture the Flag’.
However, instead it involves office chairs on wheels and blindfolds…
The idea of the game is for the Attackers to get from one end of the field of
play to the other before the other team and get the flag without the
Defenders tagging them. If the Attackers get tagged then they have to go
back to the start. The first team of Attackers to get to the flag are the
winners.
A 9th person would be needed to be the Referee. They would be required to
start off the game, make sure the players stayed within the field of play and
to make sure that the Attackers went back to the start if they got tagged by
the Defenders.
The game would be best played in a large seminar room.
3. The Players
For this game you need 8 players which are split into 2 teams - 2 teams of 2
and 1 team of 4.
The 2 teams of 2 will be the Attackers.
The team of 4 will be the Defenders.
4. The Roles of the Teams - Attackers
There are 2 people in each attacking team and the team is split into 2 roles.
Navigator - the Navigator has to sit on the chair and direct the Driver
towards the flag, avoiding being tagged by the Defenders on the way. They
have full visibility.
Driver - The Driver has to push the Navigator around the field of play. They
are blindfolded so they have to take their instructions from their Navigator.
5. The Roles of the Teams - Defenders
There are 4 people in the defending team and the team is split into 2 roles. 1
person occupies 1 role whilst the other 3 people occupy the other role.
Captain - The Captain has to direct the Defenders around the field of play so
that they can tag the Attackers and defend the flag. They have full visibility.
Defenders (3) - The Defenders have to try and stop the Attackers from
reaching the flag by tagging them and defending the flag. They are
blindfolded so they have to take their instructions from the Captain.
8. Discoveries from Testing
We discovered that our testing space was no where near big enough for the
amount of players that we had so this game would be best played in a large
seminar room.
It was quite difficult to keep control of the game. Some of the people who
were blindfolded weren’t really listening to there instructors and there was a
lot of extra noise from people who weren’t the Navigators or the Captain.
The referee would need to have a whistle in order to keep better control of
the players.
