3. Current Production
• Original assembly required the gasket to go
around the glass then be stretched under the
ring.
• Currently the gap between the metal ring and the
gasket is .12mm.
• Assembly of the gasket to the metal ring takes
~5 minutes and is difficult, requiring an adhesive
to keep the gasket in place.
• The door can be faulty because the adhesive
bulges underneath the gasket. This causes the
gasket to be different heights around the ring.

4. Proposals for Change
• Increase the inside diameter of the metal
ring by 5.0 mm. The gap between the
metal ring is 5.12 mm
• The gasket can be successfully be
assembled to the door with out an
adhesive.
• Assembly of the gasket to the glass can be
achieved in < 1 minute.
• Two mock up dryer doors are currently
assembled. One is mounted to a Pilot 2
MLT dryer in the validation lab.

5. Proposals for Change
• Increase the shoulder length of the gasket by
2.5mm
• No mock up has been assembled
• New seals can be ordered and be here in
a weeks time.
• Assembly time should be shortened because
of longer seal.
• Seal may interfere with gap filler on front
panel, causing the door not to close.
• The distance between gap
filler and seal is 2.8mm

8. Next Steps
• Testing
- Open Force, Close Force, and Child Safety
- Open Force and Close Force was tested on one door. Open Force average is 9.76
lbs. Close force average is 10.58 lbs.
- MLT and CLT testing (the effects of wear on the seal)
- DOE testing (see if the gasket has any effects on the heater cycling)
