You have been gathering data on a trend-
ing topic assigned by your project manag-
er. Now, you will create any type of info-
graphic to be shared on Pinterest as well
as the companyâs blog.
InDesign for final layout.
Illustrator for the icons.
Photoshop for creating the background
and getting the right effects.

To vectorize at least 4 graphic icons,
that coordinate, and create a graph to
show your results of your research.
I started by creating a survey online, and
used those results to create my icons. I
used illustrator and the pen tool and
shapes to create them. Using InDesign
I loaded in the background, and picked
colors for my scheme based on that pho-
tograph. I used my sketch ideas to create
the final layout.

Use the new logo to design consistent lay-
outs and branding for a business card and
letterhead.
Illustrator was used to create these de-
signs.
Jason Stucki
Visual Communication 130
Create business card front and back,
and a letterhead and have consistent
design, with a simple layout.
Sketching ideas for this design helped
the idea in my head start to come to life.
I had a logo designed prior to this proj-
ect that I used as a starting place for the
color scheme. Using Illustrator I set up a
grid layout where I could select individu-
al squares and place the circles in them
at that size. Bringing in the logo color
scheme I created a pattern to the circles
and repeated it across the top of the two
layouts.

Your employer wants you to design a
full-color, folding brochure to help pro-
mote the company product, service or lo-
cation. The purpose of your brochure may
be informational or advertising. You may
choose ANY topic. Make this something
you enjoy.

Use the InDesign Tutorials (below) to
design a brochure in InDesign. Set up
and align a two-sided, folded docu-
ment. Create a new logo for this proj-
ect.
Using Illustrator I actually had my daugh-
ter teach me how to create little âpeopleâ
and how to color them to look like differ-
ent âpeopleâ. I created an offset brochure
and imported four Christmas related pic-
tures from last year. And based the color
scheme off the card photo. In photoshop
I took away the background on my family
photo and imported it into the brochure
layout. The blue square was cut off once
it was printed.

The CEO of your company asks you to
create a web page layout for a new compa-
ny website to communicate the executive
committeeâs vision to the web developer.
Your full color, high definition, accurate
prototype will serve as the blueprint for
the new website. The web developer has
requested wireframe (aka: shape map)
and a .psd with layers (Photoshop native
document) based on the 960 web design
grid for accurate sizing and precise cod-
ing.

Be able to create a web page mockup
that can be used to create all the actu-
al coding to create the real web page.
Sketch out ideas for the layout, and then
create a digital sketch map to use as tem-
plate, and then insert my actual photos
and text. I have a focal point with three
supporting photos under that main one.
And utilized the color scheme from the
logo to create the rest of the mockup.

A potential employer requests a web page
to review. Theyâd like to see one of your
logo designs with a description of the de-
sign process as well. Use your logo from
the Business Identity Project to showcase
and create a webpage layout (See exam-
ples above) using what you know about
HTML and CSS.

Code a custom webpage with HTML
and CSS.
Using templates supplied by the instruc-
tor, I inserted all the code necessary to
create this design. I implemented the
colors from the logo into the code, and
changed one thing at a time to get it just
right. And before submitting, I made sure
the code validated without any errors.

You have been hired for an internship with

This is your opportunity to create an
eye catching magazine cover that is all
about YOU! Incorporate high quality
images with eye catching article titles
to intrigue your audience into grabbing
your magazine off the shelf.
Using an bridal picture taken outdoors I
cut away the background so that I can use
it on this magazine cover. I thought of the
typography I wanted to use, and came up
with a monochromatic color scheme to use
on the typography. I laid out the design
based on a few sketches that were drawn
up and tweaked them till I had the look I
wanted.

Using the blending technique to com-
bine three different images that have
a theme and use tasteful typography
and include at least one quote or scrip-
ture.
Using photoshop I selected the main im-
age and then brought the other two in and
placed them accordingly. Then you have
to create the three images as if they were
all part of the same initial picture. I used
the masking technique to get this effect,
and added overall texture through a filter
on photoshop.

You are applying with a company looking
for a photographer/designer who can use
Photoshop well. You are asked to submit
a full-bleed, 8.5 by 11, photodesign project
that includes an original, new (since the
activity) quality image, a consistent color
scheme based on that image, some text,
and a few design elements.

Capture a quality photo with good
LIGHT, sharp FOCUS, and nice COM-
POSITION. Edit the image: Levels â Vi-
brance/Sats â Selective Color â Sharp-
ness.
I had a great fire hydrant photo I wanted
to use. I picked my color scheme based on
a dominant color in my photograph which
was red. I took the photo into photoshop
and did the basic image edits on it. And
tried out a few âideasâ for the text. I used
the âgot milkâ idea in forming my phrase. I
used the rule of thirds for the photograph
that I took.. The eyedropper tool was my
friend in this activity in getting a color
scheme put together with the help of the
color wheel supplied by the class.

Use a software to create a presentation
that will prove useful and let others
know that the software is a great way
to present material.
I picked a topic to do a presentation on,
and created at least 10 âframesâ that used
tasteful typography had a color scheme. I
took it one step further and included mu-
sic with mine. I uploaded photos to use
with my presentation and created text
boxes with enough words to express the
point, without being too wordy. This pre-
sentation is engaging and I find myself
wanting to spend more time with it creat-
ing other presentations now.
