A Look Back in 2013
2013 was a very prosperous year for Weldon.
With the welcoming of many new employees, big transitions with store relocations, and entering the world of
social media, Weldon has waved goodbye to 2013 and
leaped into the new year with many new projects set in
stone. There are many things we will be looking forward to this year. With a newly relocated brake shop
and new stores popping up, we center in on our President and Vice President of the company, to see how
things came to a conclusion for 2013, and what’s to
come this year. Here's what they had to say:
“The beginning of 2014 finds Weldon in the
middle of several ongoing projects. 2013 was a great year
in terms of moving the company forward. Our focus in
2014 is to bring these projects to fruition. The Oklahoma
city brake shop, purchasing, and IT departments have
moved into their new building. The brake shop has added
new equipment and more workers. IT has added Brian
Moore. We also have 2 new transfer trucks. Clinton has
moved to its new building. We are putting together a
chrome and accessory show room. Lanne has begun taking

activities in the Oklahoma reline center. We moved into systems on trailers. The final stage of the Elk City project
is underway. When completed, they will have a state of the

be. Grand Island moved to a brand new building in Octofor vendor orders spitting to multiple locations. We

Weldon Parts Inc. has been a well established truck parts company for a long time. The marketing side
of the company has really expanded their ideas and will have a huge breakthrough this year. Twitter,
YouTube, and Facebook will be a huge part of the business from here on out. It is a huge step being that
we are new to social media. It will bring in a great deal of business and it is an excellent advertising
technique. The managers have gotten together to come up with a social media committee– employees
whom are able to become account admins for the sites. Being on these websites gives us a powerful
context to connect directly with present and future customers in real time. It also gives us a chance to
share news, market new products, and branding. Weldon has officially gone viral! Hello 2014 :)

2. Annual Managers Meeting 2013
The annual managers meeting was held in OKC
at the new building on Penn, on October 25th26th, 2013. Topics covered at the yearly meeting
were yearly calendars, 2013 accomplishments,
budgets, how to read reports, sales objectives,
marketing for 2014, brake shop production
and many other issues. Everyone seemed to
get a lot out of the meeting, especially the
new managers.
Grand Island’s New Store
The Grand Island location has been at their old store for
several years. They recently moved to a bigger location
so they could have more space. Here are some pictures
of their new store!

13. Our Christmas party was held at the New World Inn in Columbus, Nebraska.
The party was in a banquet style setting. Everybody seemed to really enjoy the
privacy and spaciousness of the room. We had all but 3 employees attend due
to illness, and I believe our count was 42 attending. We would like to thank
Weldon Parts for the evening and meal. We would also like to give Amy a big
thank you for the traditional homemade breads that she makes each year!

23. Reel News
The Hunger Games:: Catching Fire
The movie begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark
(Josh Hutcherson) return home after winning the 74th annual hunger games.
They embark on a victors tour of all the districts and President Snow (Donald
Sutherland) prepares for the 75th Hunger games, the quarter quell. The Capitol is
still very much in control in the movie and Katniss sense rebellion during the
film. The two hour film concludes so abruptly and tantalizingly, it leaves you
wanting more. You can see by this that there will be a third movie. It is another
year, another challenge. The stakes are definitely raised in this film. It’s more
epic, more complex, and darker than the first film. It thrills and entertains every
step of the way with great pacing and great direction. It’s always hard to make a
sequel that can match he quality of the original film. This is a must see film. I give
it 5 stars.
kA Madea Christmask
Madea get’s lured into helping a friend go visit her daughter in the
country for Christmas, but they get the biggest surprise when they
arrive. As the small rural town prepares for their annual Christmas
jubilee, new secrets are revealed and old relationships are tested
while Madea dishes her own brand of Christmas spirit to all. Madea
(Tyler Perry) and Bobby (Larry the Cable Guy) both have a great
sense of humor in this movie. They make the family come together,
and go well along with the movie. Overall the storyline and message
were pretty good. I give it 4 stars.

Ogre’s Pearls of Wisdom “The Holiday Edition”
I’d like to start this time by sharing a helpful household hint: If you run out of dish soap, you can use shampoo. It
works nearly as well. Plus, your dishes will be manageable, bouncy, and tangle-free.
Do you have guests left over from the holidays, or know someone who always seems to show up at suppertime? To
quietly get them to leave without a scene, try this: After everyone has finished eating, take all the dirty dishes, pots
and pans, and utensils and place them on the floor in the kitchen. Then, call the dogs or cats in, and invite them to
lick the dirty items. When they’ve finished, take all the dishes and put them in the cupboard. You'll never see those
folks again. (I’ve actually done this—it DOES work!)
And for those of you who are wondering: No, I have not lost my mind. It got scared and ran away.
Happy New Year!
