ICT role in 21st century education and it's challenges.
Work with family reflection
1. Reflection
After I visited CICS, I learned about what services CICS can
provide for a family. New immigrants can get many services they need
in one place, for instance, diabetes clinic and ESL class. CICS makes
family action plan for new comers. They customize the services for
clients. They provide all service from new immigrants’ point view.
However, I also realized that new immigrants would face many
challenge. Even CICS tries its best to help them. They still have some
barriers to access some services, for example, the office working
hours. Children in CICS cannot eat food according to a Canadian
recipe.
I also learn from another Group’s presentation. Wood Green
Agency has four years program for supporting Women. The
organization provides furnished apartment, childcare, financial
support, counseling. They divide the program for four parts. They help
woman enroll into college because education is the key. However, if
you want to get services, you need to be qualified. Maybe, woman
who wants to get services is not qualified.
East end Community Health Centre provides primary care, health
promotion and disease prevention services to the south-eastern part
of central Toronto. They can help the clients who are difficult to access
health care due to poverty, language, and lack of health issuance The
2. most common barriers which families face is that they will be on the
waiting list for long time to get childcare subsidies and affordable
housing. Those services are that a family desperately need.
As an ECE and global citizen, our responsibilities are to support
family and make sure everyone can get equal chance to access health
care, educational opportunity, and social benefits. We provide the
information which families need and try our best to make significant
difference for their lives.
