long term Gauging Stations
• Some new gauging stations have been
installed for this project
• Local site is on the Tully River upstream of
the coastal agricultural area

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Colours
5. • Gauging Stations used as discharge data
is available at these sites
• Gauging stations have telemetry
• Old – PSTN and Next G polled from
Brisbane
• New – Next G and Satellite IP equipped
sites FTP data whenever there is a
change in near real time
• Only local site next G IP is on South
Johnstone River

• Statewide support by Hydrographic
Support in Brisbane
• They provide the equipment and repair/
maintain/update equipment
• Also adapt equipment to specific needs
• All gauging stations to be updated to
Campbell CR1000 with Next G or Satellite
IP over the next five years
10. Data Management
• Time series data stored on HYDSTRA – now
owned by Kisters AG
• Results from Water Sample analysis currently
stored on HYDSTRA as well as other
departmental data bases
• Stores both unvalidated near real time telemetry
data and validated data
• Stations polled by SODA - a Kisters product
• IP sites FTP to HYDSTRA and HYdsupp
11. Stage Discharge ratings developed using conventional
current meters, Teledyne RDI Work Horse 600Khz ADCPS
and Sontek M9 ADCP (pictured below)
